Why is there so much hatred for the Stang?

Its not always the ricers either. I had this pest on my ass today that I couldnt get rid of! He was probably in his late 20s driving a huge Bmw. There were too many morons driving around to get away from him. So he tormented me until I gave him the symbol of my thumb and forefinger. Letting him know that his dick was "only this big" :D Yup, he understood! Good call on that one! :)

On a side note I was watching a car show on Spike TV and they had a built up TDR Toyota Celica w/ a Superchager. At 7 PSI it was putting out 166 HP and 140 TQ :rlaugh: :rlaugh: and ran the 1/4 in 14.9 and they were braggin ike it was something special :rlaugh: :rlaugh: Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick w/ my Domestic rear wheel drive V8 American Muscle :flag:

Yea I saw that too, and the car ended up costing $37,000 for those who wanted to buy it! :notnice: Why shell out $37k for that POS? That's why I stopped watching that show.

I look at all this a tiny bit differently. Many of these points have been mentioned but it needs to be looked at in total.

First there is the normal rivalry between Mustangs and Camaro's/Firebirds. There are a lot of GM owners who dislike Mustangs but not too many that hate them. Let's just call the GM/FORD thing a "rivalry" and not hatred.

But then there is "todays" generation who to a large extent wouldn't be caught dead in a Pony Car. They shun most domestics for the same reason and until recent models like the Neon SRT came along wouldn't give them the time of day either. They have adopted imports as "their" cars. The import crowd sees Pony Cars as old technology and sees imports as affordable high tech automobiles. I don't agree with them but that's what they think. Whether a Stang can blow their doors off in a Quarter mile or not means nothing to them. But this "hatred" is further infused by our overall disdain for Ricers in general. That really aggravates them. THIS SITUATION HAS NOT EXISTED IN THE PAST as far back as I can remember. It is a rather new phenomonen probably starting in ernest about five years or so ago and getting worse as time goes on. The same thing happens at car shows......Ricers and Traditionalists don't want to associate with each other. In the past, unless it was an all Ford event or an all Chevy event, everyone co-existed rather peacefully. Tain't so today.........you can cut the tension with a knife when you have both groups together at a general event.....at least that's the way I see it. THIS IS THEN INTERPRETED AS HATRED.

Anyways, I see this as a rather recent phenomonen caused by the hugely wide spread difference between imports and domestic pony cars (all brands past and present).

Spoken like a true South Carolinian horse 3948. I know this attitude has been around for about the last 5 or so years. Hate to think that Fast and Furious had something to do with this attitude towards mustangs. But even that movie held true to the old saying "There is no Replacement for Displacement". I understand the fact that we are the basis of what should be considered the backbone of America...Strength. What I don't understand is why can't here just be appreciation of a nice ride, and why can't credit be given when credit is due. It's not the older crowd that feels this way, it's mainly the younger crowd who don't know the first thing about true muscle cars. IMHO though....

Your'e right. But we are truly devided and I don't see that changing any time soon unless ALL the new cars available in the future are extremely similar which just won't happen. Us "older" folks shake their heads when they see some of the crap that the younger ones think is cool (and I don't mean to say that it is all bad, but a very high percentage of it is). Body kits, scoops, wings, lowering and obnoxious fart cans are all laughable to me. None of it makes any sense.......the cars look lousy and most of them don't perform well at anything. But because we don't go in for that stuff, we are categorized by THEM as...well......uncool.

I wish we could make it all go away but I am afraid it wont. :bang: :bang: :bang:

Let's see here is a good one...my friend buys a integra with a low mileage motor and decent looks at the time it has since changed into a nice lookin car. He has taken that car which he purchased for about the same as i got for my cobra. The car has a ported head, new valve springs and retainers, full exhaust, tuned comp.,crowler cam, cold air intake, and several other stuff. I on the other hand don't have half of what he does and next week he will be getting his turbo kit put on. I beat him on average of 3 cars on the street (usually spinning 1st and 2nd). He said I'll be slower than him after the turbo kit so this guys is gonna give me his NX kit to put on my car HAHAHA. I just said ok man thanks i guess you want me to race you after I get it installed. He said yes so for my buddies new found means of going fast I get the giggle gas for free. Well no argument there just got to wait for his piping to get bent and then its time to whip his as again. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!
