Why wont deep dish work on IRS?

Ok Im getting new wheels for the Cobra, I made a call to mustangtuning and they said the dd rims wont work on my IRS rear because of a bolt that would have to be cut down or replaced with a low profile bolt on both sides. He tired to explain it to me but Im still lost, somebody want to help me out here I want the dd FR500's on the back, can it be made to work without much trouble?

i read something about that but not entirey sure i also saw it on a mg i'll try and find the article but im sure someone will post up some good info on that

Ok, Ill be away from the computer for a while (finishing up my first round of mods tonight

) Ill check back later tonight or thursday to see if anybody can give me some good info on this. I want the DD's bad but dont want any major problems with them going on the car.

I had to grind down the irs bolt on my 03 cobra to put on afs 10.5" wheels. It is no big deal I know there are threads about it with pictures on www.svtperformance.com It is a bolt / nut that needs to be ground down for clearance.

Wheel spacers

Some wheel spacers would work too..However I would recomend a stronger solution..That is if your making lots of hp, and/or doing some road racing.

does anybody make the deap dish wheel to customer specifed offset?

this would solve this. I now I was looking into zr1 rims on my chevelle and I found a company that would make them in an offset that would fit. I don't like wheel spacers personally. it is a slolution just not the best one IMO. grinding the bolt is not exactly the way I would like to solver either.

their is but they do charge quite a bit for a special off-set on certain wheels

yeah it is more money it is just the way I would do it.

I would be like hey hussy, you get you ass to work and make me some money so I can buy some special offset rims for my car and my pot pie better be on the table when I get home.

then again coments like this are why I have been trying perfect the conductive rubber frying pan so it does not hurt so bad when the beating comences.

ok in the picture on the svt link, there is one bolt head that is shown. Is it this bolt (on each side of the rear) that needs to be cut or changed for a lower profile one, and only this one. How much would need to be shaved off of it for clearance?

after a second look, i dont see anyone saying they have deep dish rims in that svt link. Will the deep dish rims be diffrent from regualr 17x10.5's? So can I just use spacers to keep the tire from rubbing that bolt, and is that the only concern with useing dd rims and wide tires (315/35's is what I want to use BFG Drag Radials)

typically a 10.5 inch rim is a dished rim i believe...

CCW can make the wheel in any offset you want. It will NOT be cheap though.

it is just one nut and bolt on each side that need to have like 1/3 taken off. I brought my car and new wheels to the shop and when it was on the lift it was very easy to telll what bolt was going to hit. use the search tool on SVtperformance and you will find more posts with the bolt shown and the amount that has to be ground off. I had to grind the bolt and put hubcentric spacers on for bfg dr's. Maximun motorsports sells the spacers give them a call, maybe they can give you some more insite.

thanks for the info guys , it sounds like a easy fix . Ill order my rims and post pics when I get them on the Cobra. Oh yea Im getting them from MT any problems with wheels from them? Just wondering,
