Why won't Ford accept my order

First off congrats on the order, dont give up hope yet. You need to stay on top of your salesman, keep bugging him for info, tell him/her to contact their sales rep for more info if nothing else. I placed my order on July 14th and really didn't get any new until this last week first my VIN and 2 days later my ETA of Sep. 19th "we'll see anyway" my car is scheduled to be built on Sept. 6th. As far as what Ford puts in priority is anyones guess, maybe another forum member can answer this. So I know that the wait is agonizing but it will be worth it in the end.

Could be that an option you ordered is in short supply. Also it could be that your dealer isn't telling you the truth.

+1. If you ordered a Mustang with a unique option it will be built ahead of ones that are going to sell as soon as they hit the showroom floor. The big shift in production that Ford made years ago was a lesson learned by Toyota but a good lesson, instead of tying up money and space with inventorying everything parts are ordered when needed and by excellent management they show up as the car rolls down the assembly line so if you have something beyond the norm your assed out pretty much BUT, it WILL be worth the wait.

Hang in there. I ordered my car on June 28th. My first ETA for arrival was he week of August 18th. My second ETA was August 27th. Now, my 3rd ETA(and hopefully final) is September 8th. Why the ETA keeps changing is beyone me, but my car has been built since Auguts 8th. But I had read that this has happened to many, many people, so I figure it must be normal. It'll be worth the wait, just be patient. Good luck! Post pic's when you get it.

As someone else said, the options could definitely be throwing it. I remember when I bought my 2008 GT, it was off the showroom floor. I was considering another color, but all the same options otherwise. It had the HID headlights, and the dealer told me that (at that time) Ford was having an issue with their supplier and while there might not be a delay at all, it would've been possible that there could also be a 2-3 month delay. I wasn't sure if he was yanking my chain to try to make the instant sale, but I ended up confirming that situation with another dealer. That could possibly be happening to you too.

I orderd mine June 14th, with a expected delivary of August 8-20. Called my dealer and it wasnt even on the build list as of August 8th. Called again a week ago and its supposed to be built September 12-13. I dont know, but im pretty burned with ford giving faulty delivery dates.

Not getting this car on time is costing me A LOT of money.

I don't know how many Ford dealers you have in your area, but even though they are all part of the same family, so to speak, they are definitely competing with each other to get your money. When I bought my '09 I simply went to the Ford website, put in my zip code and searched all the area dealer inventories to find the car I wanted. By changing the zip to near by areas I was able to search every Ford dealer within an hours drive, must have searched at least 20 inventories. I went to one of area dealers to work a deal, and actually walked out at one point intent on going to another dealer. The sales person came out to ask me what I needed to come back in, and after some more negotiating we made the deal on a car they did not have in stock but "they would try to find one that matched for me", with the papers signed, I told them were the car I wanted was. The next day I picked it up after it was transfered in.

The point is maybe you don't have to wait for that specific dealer to get your car. Maybe you can get another dealer to take over the order for you, one that isn't over their allotment yet. Or maybe you can use the web to find a car that matches what you want already in stock at a different dealer, and just cancel your order to get that one. There's always options, and until you actually take delivery of the car, the deal is not complete nor is it set it stone. Maybe all they need is the threat of losing your sale to another dealer and having to refund your deposit to clear up their "alotment" issues.

They said 8-10 weeks. Ya i will be real happy the first time i get to start my car up

Just so you know it has nothing to do with Ford itself, it's the dealership.

The dealership has to have the allocation to have your car built, if they do not.. it will take longer until they do get the allocation.
