While assembling my engine, I picked up the pushrods and heard one rattle..ah crap.. Called comp cams , and they sent me one out no questions asked..

So I got the part the next day, and I went to put them on, I decided to take a brush to the inside of all the other pushords... all clean..

then I took a metal coathanger.. and kinda reemed them out.. just stuck it in the ends and moved it around nothing really hard ..

and this is what came loose after , bits of metal slag from them welding it..

So I called them again.. and they are sending me out 3 new ones.. but yet another weekend with no engine work..guess I should go out and play..

Im not saying comp cams is bad.. hell they sent me a new one overnight... it was just the fact I found two more that got me thinking...

Why does slag get in there.. I know they weld it electrostaticly, but damn thats alot of metal .. You would think they would check for that stuff when made..

oh well..

It looks like it probably came from when they machined the ends, but you'd hope they'd do some sort of QA on them where that would be checked along with assuring the finished product was of acceptable quality.

I work in a machine shop and EVERY part we make is checked for burrs or metal filings of any kind before the stuff gets sent out. That just looked like someone wasnt doing their job correctly.

Glad you caught it before something bad happened.
