why..

why is it that when you do something to your car, something always goes wrong during or after the project..
for example i just did a pi headswap about a week ago and everything was fine, but it recently got very cold outside so i was draining the coolant out of my car (to put fresh coolant in) and when i went to take the temp sensor out to bleed the air out of the system i noticed the sensor was loose so i got someone to rev the car while i looked under the hood for leaks. everything was good no leaks then all of a sudden my temp sensor blew right out of the plastic intake and hot coolant blew all over my face!!!so now i have to buy a new intake with the aluminum crossover tube.

WHY DOES **** LIKE THIS HAPPEN????

I didn't even know they made PI intakes with the plastic runner.

My temp sensor or sender (the one on the right) blew out on me one day and I JB welded it in. That worked for 3 years and then the sensor went bad (lol). Luckily, my intake cracked in the front at the same time so I got a PI..

Well... not to harp on you but maybe you should have posted that you were thinking of doing that with a manifold that still had the plastic runner...

I replaced my original NPI manifold with another NPI manifold that had a plastic runner (new and free). When I tried to torque down one of the coolant sensors to spec, the entire metal plug screwed right out of the plastic rendering the manifold completely useless. I then bought a manifold with the aluminum runner. That was a very stupid design on Ford's part.

Hang in there. Replace it with only one that has an aluminum runner.

And enjoy the hobby. I do, even though I'm constantly fighting problems. My girlfriend asked me one day if the Mustang truely relaxed me when it seemed to make me so angry at times. I told her that the stress I get from the Mustang is a different sort of stress in my life. It relaxes me in the end and makes me forget about the real stress of work and "life in general". I love working on my car. It's a labor of love. :nice:

well i ordered an intake with the alum crossover tube now and it even has two holes predrilled for the temp sensors and if your just gonna use it on a 99-04 you just plug the one hole, if its for the 96-98 well then i got the extra hole..
i don't know what they really cost but i got this one for $270 from a friend who works in a garage
btw i'm ok it was really cold out so the coolant must have cooled off in the second that it hit the air because it didn't burn my face or anything (but it was still very hot tho)

Interestingly put. I think that's my reasoning too. :)

DTNODYA the PI intake from 99-00 had a plastic runner

Cool, I didn't know ...
