So I wen't to get my tires rotated by Discount Tire today and was told that I should start thinking about new tires so this also got me to thinking about going with 17x10.5's as well. I am planning on reusing 2 of the 17x8 rims I have and just adding the other 2 rims to my setup. Is that a problem first off? I don't see one I just want to be clear before I decide to go this way and while I'm at it I might as well ask whats the best tire setup. I am looking for something with a bigger sidewall I'm thinking and it will have to be an all weather setup but won't see much snow in south Texas. I want some big meats but it can't be overkilll as my car isn't lowered and won't be in the near future either. As always thanks! I also will have a $400 credit from Discount so that is going to help me TONS

You should have no problems*. I kept the factory front rims and added 17x10.5's in back with 315/35/17's fit nice and "Wider is Better"

* except like Darkside said the color will be different from the factory front rim color?
I didn't have to worry mine got powdercoated? to match the fronts?? well kinda since they had a deepdish lip i went with a gloss black on the lip?

$400 might help get either the set of rim's / or just the tires? but some is better than none. let us know what you get? or thinkin about "rims"?

Should be fine, but without some gears/FI/Nitrous you'll be a few tenths slower in the 1/4. If that's not a concern, then go for it!

Thanks for the input, I didn't consider the color not matching my wheels is that the case even if I buy them at the same place I got the others? And I have some mods so it might not be as noticible but gears and subframe connectors is on the short list... tires are a necessity and why upgrade them later and spend more money then when I can do it now is my thinking

right on. So the front's aren't the factory? rims? Well if not, more than likely they will match. What style rims are we talking about like bullets, cobra r's, saleen's??

Nah I got some 17x8 black bullitts when I got this car.. the previous owner when he sold the car probably threw the biggest pos rims he could find.. 1 of them was bent even so I couldn't drive those very long without having serious tire wear issues. At that time I didn't even consider buying staggered because I drive so many miles at that point but now that I am a bit settled I am liking the staggered setup alot better.

What kind of wheels are we talking about here? Bullitts?
Yes the color will be off slightly if you can live with that.
Those heavy 10.5" wheels will help traction but, will hurt
your 1/4 mile times slightly probably two or three tenths
if you can live with that.Although they will look great depending
on what wheel we are talking about?

The color would only be off if you had the 01-02, possibly 03 Bullitts. Since yours are black, you're good to go. I think you'll really like the DD Bullitts out back.

Thanks for the input fellas! Before the end of the summer (or texas summer at least lol) I should have the rims on. Any input on tire size for a car without any suspension mods? I was thinking maybe 255 up front and 285 out back?

255's up front and 285's or 295's out back should work just fine.
Some people here run massive 305's or 315's out back!
