Widest rims??

I have a 91 5.0, just about to do ssbc 5 lug disc brake conversion. I have had 15x8 welds on the car and think they were little to small. Does any1 know what is the widest size wheel I can go with and tire size , fenders are rolled and shocks off. I was told 15x10 with 6" back space would work ?

Without doing inner fenderwell work, and having your tires stick out of your car, 275 would be the widest from what a lot of people on here have stated. If you beat in the inner fenderwell, with a spacer in the rear, you can do 315's. As for rims, I have little to no idea. I run a 10" on mine stock IIRC, but I am still 4 lug.

That's not saying a 6" spacer :)

15X10 with a 6.5'' backspace, on a 28x10.5 or eqivalent tire fits an LX perfect. What brakes are you using? Cobra brakes might work with 15x10 welds and alot of grinding, i used them on a 15x8 wheel. They didnt fit my billet specialties wheels though. The GT brakes cleared no problem.

Here is a pic of my setup. The rear is narrowed 1/4"

They tuck in really nice with that setup. The 275/60 drag radials fit even better cause they run a little smaller.

Not sure the brakes, they will be included in the ssbc 5 lug conversion kit

If you plan on keeping a 10" wheel, you should get some kind of template from SSBC and make sure they fit your wheels.

I will say, IMO, there are much better brake options for probably less money than the SSBC kit.

Honestly got no idea lol, I just called an asked around American muscle an cj pony parts said same kit with 31 spline axles an Detroit tru trac would be heavy duty rear for what I was planning, I found a set of weld stars that I thought would look good so trying to find out biggest I can go with no problems or major mods

How much is that kit? You could get a baer brake kit that fits a good majority of the 15'' wheels out there for 1500 bucks. That will include everything to do the job but front spindles. I think that SSBC kit is a glorified SVO brake swap.

For the amount of money it sounds like your going to be spending, you could piece together something much better than a conversion kit. Find an 94-95 SN, which isn't hard, take the rear end, lines and the front spindles and spend about 400-600, with the Slave Master Cylinder. Upgrade the rotors, calipers and brakes if you want.

I agree with this as well if you were to upgrade the brakes.

Thanks for the help.. Ill post some pics when I get everything ordered an put on. Just trying to fig out the tires I want to put on now needs to be good on track but still great on street a lot of driving on street

I am getting a set of MT ET Streets or Nitto NT05's. Both are pretty much an even tire, but the articles I have read comparing the two, gave the slight edge to the NT05's.
