I have a 91 GT that is all stock and has a noise coming from the back of the motor... It doesn't quite sound like a knock and there is no loss of power or loss of oil pressure. It doesnt get hot. It is just a loud noise that stays pretty much the same when you rev it up. It has an AOD transmission. Any help would be great?????

does it sound like perhaps an exhaust leak? what about the smog rails that go along to the back of the heads? If they're leaking it can sound ****ty.

What exactly does it sound like? A rattle or more of a knock?

it sounds different than a regular knock. It has a slight knock but also a screach as well...??? Its not an exhaust leak I am sure of that. It sounds broken but that does not affect the performance...

sounds like the motor is shot...the screaching noise is probably the rod rubbing aginst the crank. could also be a cracked flex plate but i dont think that would make the car loose power and def. no loss of oil pressure.....just something to think about?

If a rod is knocking your gonna know it, and he said there is no loss of power or oil pressure. I was automaticly thinking the throw-out bearing, then I read it was a AOD....Have you takin a long screwdriver and put it up to different things around where the sound is coming from?
