will 235-50-17 tires fit 9" wide rim safely

Thread title says it all, I have an almost new set of 235-50-17 tires sitting in my garage and I am looking at adding 17x9 rims. will the tires fit safely or will i be drving down the street and have some horrible blowout.

I personally wouldnt do it... it'd stretch the sidewall out a fair bit. I wouldnt go smaller than 245's, and theres really no need since 255's should easily fit on the front of a fox.

Max rim width is 9 min is 6, going off a Kuhmo tire spec.

i wouldn't. I've read 8.5 is the max, the post above says 9.

sell them and buy a new set.

I had a 235/45/17 separate from the rim of a 9" wheel while I was turning a corner. I wasn't even going fast.
