My rear end needs rebuilding and found a rear end from a 2001 ford explorer with 3.73 gears and 31 spline axles...Will this be a direct install on a 2001 mustang gt

It's 59.5" wide (between wheel mounting surfaces) according to seller and fits fox body mustangs

I know that the diff will but I am not sure if the shock mounting points and control arm points for the Mustang will work

Doesn't the 01 Exploder have a leaf spring rear suspension? If so, the housing isn't going to bolt into a 4-link Mustang chassis...

Get the Exploder diff carrier and some 31-spline axles (e.g. FRPP M-4235-E) and you should be good to go to use your OE housing.

That was my thought too. I don't believe that the explorer went to a 4 link set up

The differential itself will fit. The housing, not at all.
