Will a 2006 crown Vic engine fit in my 1996 mustang GT?

Hello, I have a 1996 Ford Mustang GT with a bad motor, I have a 2006 crown vic motor that came with the mustang when I bought it, the previous owner keeps saying they have the exact same block, but I really want to be sure before I try to take out the old engine and try to fit this one in. Also, the crown Vic had an automatic transmission, but my mustang has a manual, will they go together?

Short answer is yes it will bolt up. It will be necessary to swap:
  • The ignition
  • The fuel induction with rails.
  • the oil pan if you want the oil level sensor to remain.
  • Retain the car's original wiring harness
The switching from automatic to manual just requires swapping the flex plate for a flywheel and pilot bearing.
