Of course it will fit, but it won't fit PROPERLY, so you wouldn't get proper traction, handling or tread wear.
I have 275/60/15 tires on 15x7 turbine rims. They fit, but it's far from ideal. I got the ET streets for $50 though, so I really don't care if I **** them up
My taste may differ than yours, but I like the way it looks with the tire hanging out past the rim. Would it present any danger or disadvantages in handling though?
The rims will be pulling up the treads from the road. You won't accomplish any more traction with the wider tires if they don't make contact with the road surface.
look at the 03/04 cobra guys, they all have been running that tire on a 17x9 rim. I ran mine like that for years and had zero issues at all. but keep in mind that nitto tires are smaller then say a bfg or mt so dont try it with their 315's.
