will dumps be louder, then it comming out the rear tips?

I have a magnaflow catback, and i kinda was thinking of switching to just putting some angled down tips on the mufflers (dumps) so that i dont have to worry about exhaust rattle/squeeks i been hearing, and then i also wouldn't need to line up my tips anymore. Will i notice any power increase from this? is it going to be way louder? And where can i purchase some dump tips

Uhh Yes its pretty much exits out by your seat LOL. I love mine though hella fun and hella loud makes me get noticed :) I have MAC Pro Dumps so far the cops love it LOL always ask me where the exhaust exits though :( I don't think they are legal LOL. To get the tips any exhaust shop can do it for you or sell them to you :). good Luck and trust me you will notice a difference in sound LOL. The only problem with mine is on gravle roads kicked up dust LOL and sometimes I can smell the exhaust :( but still worth it. I'm going to modify mine soo to do side exhaust LOL.

I'm in the same boat.... when my tails rust some more I'm going to dump mine too. Going to try to get a little length behind the mufflers though. Not a straight angle down, but a 6-12" out and THEN down. I want to keep mine as far back to the rear axle as possible without being a problem. I may angle them a bit so they don't point straight down too. Point them at the car I'm racing. :D Also might help with the dust. I never drive on dirt roads though.

Really? Wow, mine are damn quiet and I get commented on them all the time by people that say I should upgrade my exhaust. When I punch it they shut up. :D I like the sound of them... just hate my tails.

A few hours ago I just put tailpipes on my dumped spintechs and I can tell you that it was MUCH louder dumped. Honestly, I think its too quiet in the car now, but it still screams loud outside. I'm sure it doesnt help that I have longtubes and an X pipe either though.

Anyways, I am still glad I did it though because dumps drone horribly and my car sounded like a truck below 2800 RPMs because the motor wasn't flowing enough to make it sound decent until I got up in the R's.

It sounds 20 times cleaner now though and once I do my H/C/I I'm sure it will be loud enough in the car again. :D

i dumped mine and i love it!no drone at all.

What kind of mufflers do you have. When I dumped my bassani. I love it for about a month. Then the drone got too bad. Then I started to hate it. I could really talk to people in the car. I put the tails back on. I it sounds much better. Don't go when dumps. They are only cool for a little while.

it really depends if it is a stick or auto. and what gearing you have. because i dont get any drone at all i just down shift to a lower gear. fourth gear or so at 2,000 rpm cruisn' speed. not so good on gas, but lets you hear the authentic 5oh sound

got dumps with flowmaster 40's, drones till around 1500 after that it sounds real nice. my exhaust is 122 decibles if that helps with the loudness range any

I currently have 2.5" h-pipe with Flow Masters and 3" dumps and loved it when it was first completed. 3 years later I'm a little older and it is starting to drive me crazy. Very loud and intimidating sounding. The people I would like to race wont and the people that do want to race kill me. I will most likely put tail pipes back on next year and I believe I will get a slightly better ET when I go to the tails. When I first did my exhaust I seen my 60ft. go up but my ET got slightly better. I think it lost torque but gained HP. BTW I got the dumps from Murry's Auto Parts for $8 each.

Does anyone know where i can get some turndowns that use U clamps like the ones shown above in the picture. Various places like jegs sell them buy they are 14inches long and i think the tip of my mufflers to my sway bar which i measured is about 12inches. or can i run without the turndowns, does the heat really need to be reflected down? i think its better if it does dont really like the idea of mufflers blowing directly at the gas tank.
