Ive recently heard that if i install new rear end gears it will void my warranty!! has anyone else heard the same if so is it true???!!! im still stuck between 4.10s and 3.73s hmmm

they will probably try to void your whole warranty if they find out about the gears. IF they find out. You don't have to tell them you have them. They don't tell you about alot of stuff and they couldn't really tell if your speedo works right. How about 3.90's? Mine are in the mail, can't wait for the install02mingreyGT said:Ive recently heard that if i install new rear end gears it will void my warranty!! has anyone else heard the same if so is it true???!!! im still stuck between 4.10s and 3.73s hmmm![]()
... And to answer your question, yes gears will void warranty, but they won't really be able to tell unless investigation is going on.GoBabyVroommm said:No it wouldn't void your warranty. If you get a Ford Racing 373 or whatever it doesn't void it. The only thing about that is ford has to install it for u. Anything you get by ford and dealer puts it on goes on the warranty unless it says won't be under warranty.
Actuallly those 3.90s sounds about perfect! right inbetween!! maybe ill check it outSonicBlueBabe said:How about 3.90's? Mine are in the mail, can't wait for the install... There's an asterisk after this partnumber, like many in the catalog, which means that the part is "not legal for sale or use on pollution-controlled motor vehicles." As well, page 2 of the catalog also has a section about warranty which essentially states "Competition parts are sold 'as is' without any warranty whatsoever." and "Ford Motor Company vehicle and parts warranties are voided if the vehicle or part us ised for competition or if they fail as a result of modification."
So, with the part not legal for sale or use on emissions-vehicles, will a dealer, even an SVT one, install a set of gears on my 02 GT? Second, the warranty wording seems pretty clear: if you modify the car and something breaks, expect a hell of a hassle from Ford in getting it fixed.

My 2003 GT is on its third tranny, second motor, and who knows what else is gonna blow. I don't even drive it that hard. I don't trust those f@gs at the dealership anyway. Took it to get some warranty work done and when I picked it up it had burnt rubber all over the sides and exhaust pipes. Bastards. FoMoCo is a buncha MoFo's. Only I can coat it in rubber.

amen to thatclaytucc3 said:The only way that any bolt on can void your warranty is if the dealership or ford can physically prove that what you have installed is a DIRECT result of what cause the failing part to malfunction. So with gears it will NOT void your tranny warranty or anything like that. However it will obviously void your gear and traclock warranty. If you want new gears and keep them under warranty you need to buy ford gears NOT Ford racing they are still concidered aftermarket and a dealership would need to install them. Some dealerships would say that it voids warranty but all you need to do is call ford and complain and them the dealership will call YOU back within a couple of days appolagizing cause they were wrong. Which is kind of fun to here.
