taller tires help top speed, but hurt take off speed. it changes your final drive ratio. it basically makes your gear ratio seem like a numerically lower ratio.

What do you think the difference would be in the 1/4? if any?

i assume that you had a 5 speed with 3.55s. basically if this is true, it would be about the same as using the stock wheels with 3.34 gear ratio. (standard 05/06 automatic and 07 ratio is 3.31) it would slow you down a little. the difference would be in the tenths, so not a huge deal unless you are trying to get the fastest ET possible. but you could fix that with a gear swap.

if you installed 4.30s, the effective ratio would be 4.04, very similar to stock heigt tires with 4.10s.

Thanks Bigcat. I appreciate it. I was thinking about going to 4.10s in the future. Now I guess I have to. lol

I'm running 295/45-18s and they are 1.5 inches larger than stock. I have 4.10s and like bigcat said, my gears are like a 3.90 which is still a great gear for the street.

hard to say. taller tires reduce gear ratio but improve hooking. theoretically you could see big improvemetns with a taller tire if you can get better short times.

good info cat.

might also check the gear calculator link which allows you to change gears, tire specifics, wheel size and rpm and automatically see the speed.
