Hi,
89 GT convertable with 160,xxx
I am planning on deleting my A/C with the Ford Racing delete/power steering relocate. I live in the Colorado mountains and always just pop the top if I am hot. A/C doesn't work anyways and I want to clean up under the hood and loose some weight. I am wondering if I do this delete, will it affect my heater? I would like to keep the heater as it still works and I use it in the cold for defrost and keeping warm. Thanks...clutch replacement questions coming in a few months haha.

Won't affect it at all. It will however lower the value of the car.

Agreed. Leave it in place and run a short belt.

leave it as is. WIll you really miss the 3hp loss of the belt running over the A/C pulley spinning? There is next to minimal drag with the A/C clutch disengaged.

Fix the AC, may cost less than the delete bracket.
Adds value to the car too.

Even on a fully chromed out show car, missing ac system still looks wrong.

Other than on a race car, an AC delete is just stupid it really serves no purpose.
When not in use it takes no power to run and the weight is what, like 50lbs? That's like removing nothing at all.

For the record, I deleted my AC, then because I was stupid, then I had to reinstall it.
It's up there with deleted rear seats and power steering in my book. Also things I've tried.

Thank you for the input everyone. I'll have to just deal with that giant hose running from it and save 75 bucks or whatever. Much appreciated!

Agree with what everyone says here. No point deleting it really. The pulley is an idler pulley when it's off, and it weighs less than 30 pounds. Not much to gain, and deleting it will lower the value of these cars.

You may not need it where you live, but the average person views a car with non-functioning A/C as less in value compared to one with it. If it's "deleted" then it's worth even less. With these cars gaining value each day, just keep it in place
