i picked up my car from having some work done and the speedo isnt working, i think he may have forgotten to plug the speed sensor back in. it will be about 3 days till i can take it back and get it fixed. i wanted to know if it will hurt anything to drive it like this. it was only a short drive back to the house and i didnt notice anything weird, do i have anything to worry about?

I'd just call the shop and let them know what it's doing. And schedule a time for it to go back in and get fixed (on their $$). I don't think it'd hurt anything, other than not knowing how fast you're going

i have to work for the next 3 days and i let one of my friends use my truck, so i'll have to drive the stang i guess. looks like it's finally gonna hit 25,000.:notnice: but anyways i told them i'd be by on sat to get it fixed. they said that they prob. forgot to plus in the speed sensor like i though. i just dont wanna do any damage

You could take out your instrument cluster and check to make sure that the wiring harness is plugged into the back of the cluster. There are two wiring harnesses that should be plugged in. If either is not plugged in though, it will also make two or three other gauges not work. So if your speedo is the only guage not working then chances are, it is not a wiring harness in the instrument cluster. What kind of 'work' did you have done? That may help diagnose your problem easier.

The only thing it will hurt, is your wallet (if you get busted for speeding). Just check to make sure there are no loose ends dangling around to get cought up in anything. Oh yeah and make sure "they" do the repair at no-charge.

get under the car and make sure the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is plugged in. simple fix.

on my 95 its on the drivers side of the trans. probably the same on 96+ cars too.

basically what people are trying to say is that as long as the VSS isnt gonna get caught up in anything, the only thing your doing is not recording miles that should be on your odomoter....which of course is wrong blah blah blah. just drive it however much you need to, and if you really feel like being honest when you sell it tell them that it probably has 100 miles more than it reads because of this incident. you will not hurt anything though. dont worry about it
