will OEM 02 e fan fit in my 93 ?

Guys,
Im thinking of ditching the stock fan in the 93 because its got major cracks in the blades.
My good friend has an oem e fan from an 02 GT. Will this fit correctly?

I know I will need to buy the controller and wire, but needed to know will this fit ?

It's possible. It's a little on the dep side though. You will need to make sure the motor will clear the water pump pulley.

Also make sure you have the wiring for it. It;s a 2-spd fan and there is a resistor pack on the top right corner you will need.

It does in fact have the resistor pack on it. Can you tell me which wires go where?
There is a plug with a Red, Orange and Black wire in it. I will probably cut the plug off and extend the wires from that point to where they connect up. I just need to know what these wires are. Im pretty sure black is ground and am thinking that red is 12volt. Where would the orange go?

You are right with the fact that its gonna be close. I wont be able to tell 100% until I take the factory unit out. I wont be able to reuse my stock fan shroud, but my buddy told me that the e fan does not need it.

yes the new electric fan will. i had to cut a few plastic fins but it fits fine. i have a motorsport radiator(the one with plastic side tanks), and made a few L brackets to mount the fan to the radiator. i have a 88 coupe w vortec s trim.

Well which wires and plugs do you have? Do you have the wiring that plugs into the resistors?

I'm basically looking at my '03 GT so i can tell you how it should be wired.

There is the plug that conects to the body harness with the black, orange and red wire. After the plug, the red wire splits off from the harness and going into the resistor pack. From there it exits and goes into the fan. The orange wire goes direct to the fan.

Black is ground, orange would be high speed and red would be low speed then.

Yes, It has the wiring from the resistor that forks off into another plug. This plug is just dangling waiting to be connected on the 02 gt. I am going to cut it off and run the wires from that point to my application.

With these three wires leaving the fan and resistor packs...how do I wire them?
Im sure that I have to have a relay right?

Also just to thank you for taking the time hand leading me through this, I know we both spoke in the other thread regardign the taurus fan, but I want to make sure it s right for this fan.

Yes you will still need a relay. The wire size is large as well, so you will need to match it. I beleive it's 10G wiring.

Just tie the black wire into a good solid ground. Test out the other wires by touching them to 12V. The orange should make the fan spin fast, and the red should spin it at a lower speed.

Then you just gotta figure out if you want to utilize the low speed or just wire it for high speed only. You can get VERY creative with the wiring if you know how. One thing you can do is use two temp sensors. One trips the low speed at say 190 degrees and the other trips the high speed at 210 degrees. Then if your A/C works, you can tie in the A/C power wire from the HVAC controls into the high speed relay so the high fan comes on if the A/C is on.

All up to how you want to take advantage of it.

Any pictures of the fan installed? I have a '96 GT fan which I believe was similar and have wondering how I might be able to bolt it up.

If memory serves me correct, 1996 is a 1 year only Cooling System so yours would be unique. I think you could pretty much get away using the newer ones by cutting some of the Plastic.

Mike,
I have two very important questions I need to throw on you.

1. I have a 30 amp relay in my tool box... I think I need a 75 amp right?
and if so...can you tell me what prongs go where? like #85 and such.

2. How does the factory fan on the water pump on my 93 cut on? does it run continuously when the car is on? It seems like it would as its attached to the water pump and Im sure it turns all the time.
Its dark outside and I have not had a chance to get out and physically look to see when it turns. I will in the morning, but if you catch my question tonight it would surely help.
