Will removing carbon trap cause me to fail emission test?

You will fail for the CAI as soon as they see it - unless it has a CARB number on it.

No H/C Trap = No Pass Smog. Was tested.

Well, isn't the HC trap eliminated if you install a supercharger? Or does a Procharger or anything like it also make you fail SMOG?

Whether a supercharger is CA street legal depends on the SC. The only one I know that is CARB certified is the one from Saleen. Any of them that require a non CARB-certified CAI will cause you to fail.

BadAndy72 - once you move here and pass the emissions test, you should fall into the normal schedule (you can confirm with the DMV, I'm just a guy that lives here). No test required for vehicles 6 model years old and newer unless you transfer ownership, in which case testing is not required if the car is 4 model years old or newer. New-ish vehicles registered in another state that move here are not exempt from the initial test when you first bring it here.

Once the car is 7 model years old, it needs to be tested every other year, except for some areas out in the sticks, but SD will not be one of those places, unless you have a wicked commute from waaaay out.

Intakes on most cars is a 10 minute job, unless you get a larger MAF, then youll simply need to unplug your chip when you swap back to stock intake.
