Will Synthetic Tranny fluid make a diff??

this is what someone told me, not sure how it actually works in the tranny

"One thing you need to know is that Red Line D4 ATF (Mercon V) is not good for your T-3650 tranny. The synchro rings are carbon fiber, and RL makes these rings brittle. I know it's wierd, but a lot of teh Mustang folks on www.mustangworld.com are using GM Synchromesh manual transmission fluid in their T-3650 trannys. GM Synchromesh takes the characteristic 1-2 shift grind out of the picture completely. Don't use Red Line in the T-3650 tranny."

I think it's a good idea for an auto tranny. I put Amsoil synthetci ATF in my Stang about a year ago, when it had 15,000 miles on it. It now has 36,000 miles on it, and I've never had a single problem.

Amsoil is good, because it does not break down as easily at high temperatures.

I just changed the tranny fluid again a couple of weeks ago, and the old Amsoil fluid looked pretty good, still red, and not brown.

I'd guess I'd stay away from Redline, if what that person above said is true.

Another thread stated that ford puts MOBIL 1 synthetic in stock is this stuff just crap or is that guy wrong? What should I use and how much any info to help me will be appreciated. Ford is hooking me up with a new tranny and i want to change the fluid first thing so the prob wont happen with this tranny. Thanks for your advice in advance anything will be nice.

I've heard you want to use a non-synthetic Dexron III.. and i believe GM syncromesh was recommended.. Check on the bottle though, to be sure. There are other Dexron III's out there that are cheaper.

What does everyone here use in their T45's and how do you like it?

I use Royal Purple ATF and I don't have any problems.
I don't have any "problems" either.. but problems now vs. problems you could be creating in the long run are two different things. For those with the Tremec 3650 tranny, using a synthetic as I am right now, I don't have any problems.. but if peoples' rumors from tremec are correct about using synthetics, we could see problems.

difference?

Depends on indivdual trans. Supposingly T-5s, etc. aren't suppose to use anything synthetic. It "messes" up the syncro blocker rings. I have used it in some of my T-5s and have no problem. I, however, have one now that is scraping already - only after a year old and have been told to get that synthetic fluid out of their as soon as possible. Seems to be the luck of the draw.
