i just bought ford fuel injection and electronic engine control book by charles probst and it only covers 1988-1993.i am wondering if anyone knows if the wiring schematic is the same for 1987 as it is for 1988.i have been trouble shooting some of the sensors and when testing the vref reference voltage at the 60 pin connector it has you probe between the 26 pin(vref) and 46 pin(sig rtn)looking for 4 to 6 volts from eec.i am not getting any voltage at those two pins but i would think if there was no voltage there i would have a no start condition but the car starts

I got a very complete diagram for mine
out of a big Chilton type at the local library, even incl. wire colors. You can usually photocopy at the library, too.

You are right about no Vref, no start. Vref feeds off of the computer's internal power supply that powers all the chips & transistors inside it. The pins can be difficult to probe from the rear or the connector, I usually use a safety pin to help.

Here's the view from the front side of the connector...
