I have a chance to get a 351W, it's all in pieces, but the block is already been preped up. now everything comes with it for only $200. does that seem like a good deal, i forgot to write down the casting, but owner says it's off a 70 mustang. the thing is, it's basically an upgrade from the 250 I6 that i have now right?

Installing a v8 either a 289 or a 351 is more than just a bolt in swap....there are suspension, drivetrain and other modifications that need to me made. Assuming that the previous owner had not screwed up the 351 it seems like a good deal. Just realize that there is A LOT more to strapping it into your car than is obvious.

I'm not too sure this is a good deal. You say the block is "prepped". Is this just tanked or has it been rebore? All this pieces are there..are they new or is it just disassembled? Who will build the motor? You? A machine shop?

I, personally, would start with a complete motor, maybe a crate motor, but not a box of used parts. And like mfp4073 said, that's only part of the job.
suspension, driveline, radiator etc.

Also, if truly original from a 70' it should be a Cleveland not a windsor.

Yeah, I'm aware of those matter and am actually ready for it, I already have a V8 suspension, I have a T-5 hanging around and I have a 4 speed in the car now, a brake upgrade kit is underway too. and I'me pretty sure that it's not messed up

well, it still retains the standard bore all is there from the 4v carb to the fuel pump and all the lines if i want it. heads have been worked on 3 angle valve job, new springs, retainers, seats, etc.

I'm actually going to build the motor myself, I just felt like i went to school and work in the automotive field for a reason, I love working on cars, i want to really say I built it myself.
