Would a MAF solve this?

I recently put on a CAI (cheap e-bay special) and the engine has a slight ping to it a certain rpms. At full throttle no problem. Looking into a Pro-M, probably a 77 or 80m since there is workd the 75m have problems. There is a 90 degree bend in front of the sensor. Would a new MAF calibrated for CAI fix this? I am running pretty stock, full exhuast, 3.73s, automatic, any input would be greatly appreciated

I think about two things based on what you said

1. the cai most likely caused you to run a bit leaner. You provide no sig but I'd be willing to bet you are a GT since you talk about a ping issue. Did you have that ping before the cai?

2. if you have plans for more hp, I'd wait on the ProM until you need larger inj's. That way you won't have to pay for a recal.

I would not be able to say for certain a different maf would help your ping issue.

You might clean your maf and check the timing.

Wow you guys are fast thank you so much. The timing is at 14 degrees i run 91 octane, and have a MSD coil. I cleaned the mass air during the cai install. Would it do any good to reset the computer? the pinging only started after the cai was installed

Off the top of my head i would say to make sure your cia set up is tight, you might have some unmetered air getting in after the maf? you might have to back timeing down or if possible bump your fuel press.. only suggestions of the top. good luck
