Would a new intake be benificial for me?

My stock cobra, is mildly ported, but im not sure if this is a restriction point for me... i am vortech supercharged, then bbk 75mm throttle body (the intake port for the cobra is also been opened up to 75mm) then i have some new World Products aluminum heads... so i know i flow really well till the intake and then again after the intake... but is the intake itself a restriction point for me?

any suggestions for a new one?

thanks

How much is mildly ported?? If you can port it a bit more I would go that way. You don't drag much at the track so it may not be worth switching (unless you plan on making this a strip oriented car). If you want to keep the cobra check prices on how much extruded honing for the upper will run you. But for a weekend cruzer I would just keep it. .02 good luck bud.....

Honestly I don't think porting is worth the hassle for you. Will there be gains? Yeah, definately. But with a properly tuned HCI combo with a power adder, you're block is the weakest part of that combo.

Especially running at 10 pounds of boost with a meth kit. If I were you, I'd spend that money on a pro tune and some dyno time. You're going to find yourself laying down enough power to split that block without sweating.

What I've read in the magazines and heard, that the block is weakest at the lifter valley/top part of the block.

Yep, they split right down the valley.

Also, if you're seeing some decent RPMs and power then after a while your mains will start to walk. This is less common but is also something to think about.

i actually have a d.s.s. main support...does that help?

at what hp do you start cracking stuff?

Is that DSS thingamiajigger the one that bolts the mains together into some kind of rectangle? I don't know too much about that piece, so I'm going to leave that to someone with more experience. But the theory of it sounds right to me.

Rule of thumb is that 450-500 rwhp is the danger zone. Of course, this all depends on how you drive it. I am by no means an expert on this, my knowledge comes from doing a ton of research on possible HCI N20 combos.

What is the compression ratio of your setup? There is a character on here named Eades5.0 that is putting out some serious power with an HCI S/C combo and a meth kit. You might want to shoot him a PM, he would be a better source then me.

comp ratio is in my sig

:bang: I missed that and went right into the mod list

That is a great compression ratio for a blown setup! I think you have a very well though out combo and I bet you're putting down more power then you think. I seriously recommend some dyno time and a tune. Just for peace of mind and to avoid blowing head gaskets.

If you find that you are lacking for power (which I doubt you will after a pro gets done) then go back into the engine and open the intake a bit. Just my .02, and like I said, there are definately guys on here that know more than I.

A tune will probably net you more power than an intake. FYI - to get the intake extrude honed, it's about $700

Seriously, with your setup, I would move on to serious suspension mods. I;m sure at this point you wish you had real traction. The lowering springs are probably hurting you there.
