Wow! tech section is really getting picky

It just steams my beans when I work to help in tech and I get called a postwh_re for it. I am not the greatest expert I will admit that. But if I feel that I can contribute I do so. Its a real slap in the face though to get "called out" for simply trying to help people.

Sure we need more knowledgeable people around here, but we don't need asshats like laserred01gt ( remember him, I put the perma-ban on him a few weeks back just before his 14 day ran out.. so we will not be seeing him anymore)

Why did he get bant? Personally I did not like him at all but he seemed to be fairly knowledgable and such...

laserred got banned for making up fake dyno graphs to support his BS arguments and he also called MPH to get info to latter use to bash them on here.. He also bashed the J-mod on autos and then if you read his explanation on why it sucks it was obvious he never had done one himself.

He caused more harm then good on here.

I am going to be honest when I say that the only reason I am back posting so much is because he is gone.

I guess SN cannot win. Get rid of one loser, get back another

Yeah, he was certainly a knowledgeable guy, but his methods in distributing said knowledge were done so in a manner to make other members feel inferior. He had no problem telling you were wrong and made sure you knew it. There were also a couple of instances where he was caught in the middle of a blatant lie in order to cover his tracks, he also on occasion was the catalyst in instigating flame wars within the forum and in a few instances, his methods for gaining his Intel for the basis of his arguments were shall we say...impractical and less than ethical. I personally didn't have much of a problem with him myself to tell you the truth, but I've got a fairly thick skin and am not averse to taking a little criticism. But in the end, the decision had to be made as to what was best for the board. And unfortunately for him, what was best for the board was his absence.

do you ever have a legitimate respsonse to critisism? it's seems you are only able to respond to critisism by trying to twist peoples words around. i've noticed the pattern.

I asked for clarification. You posed a question as an answer my question, so I'm still not 100% sure what you meant by what you said.

the 4.6L tech section has been a joke for years now. little to nothing was done about the post-whoring by certain members, so all the people with the knowledge left for greener pastures.

He is not bashing MD, he is pro-MD..

If thats the site he feels he gets the most out of then good for him. sure a lot of the early pioneers of 4.6 are over there and they have some really knowledgeable people but they don't have the market cornered on mustang knowledge. I too am a member over there but I don't post much there, I did help out a few people there with some A/C concerns but that was a long time ago.

Don't bother asking to be a mod here with your attitude about this site. If you have something to add to the site then do it as a regular member and then if your attitude changes then maybe you will get my support to be a mod.

i'm not asking to be a mod. i was speaking of a hypothetical "if". the subject of the tech section was brought up and i posted my opinion, then backed up why i feel that way. you should take it as constructive critisism. you've been here just as long as i have. did you not witness the same decline as i did?

Do you have any clue how many PM's I get with problems and how many I try to help out with.. I moderate this entire site now so I don't have the time to help out in every thread but I try to do what I can.. plus there is a lot of other guys around here that do there best to help out.. So be my guest take all your tech problems to MD or someplace else, I will spend my time helping people who appreciate the time I spend on here.

i don't deny there are a few people here who do a good job helping. in fact i stated in a previous post that there are a few very respectable people here. that's not the problem. the problem is the rampant post-whoring that's occured over time and it's overall effect on the tech section. can you honestly say that the 2V tech section of today is as good or better than it was 3-4 years ago?

drop post-counts in tech.
create a new-improved FAQ thread
close threads once the question is answered and/or when the thread gets derailed.


now you and the other mods can either keep taking offense from an honest and objective point of view, or you can take this information and use it to improve the site.

as svttech76 said, i'm not bashing MD. the tech enviroment there and at MPH is better controlled. talk remains in talk, not tech. you don't find the post-whorring there like you do here. that's why many of the very helpful members over there no longer reside here.

Why not just have a redirect link in the top of the forum to the Induction forum? This way you don't get lost trying to get there... would be the same thing no?

Do you know how many times I have heard 'This place suks, there should be more of X or X'? When the people that complain could be the ones making the place better.

The place is what it is by the community as a whole. If certain groups of members leave because they think the grass is greener over there... then they take their talents/knowledge/humor with them. Then they want to stop by and complain about what's left of the community they abandoned, when they could/should have stayed and made the place better.

This site is what it is because of the members... not because of what the moderators or admins or myself do. It's literally alive, it has it's ups and downs. 10 years is a long time. More older members should step up and make the place better... don't leave it to the newer members or staff. It's YOU!

I did leave redirect links to the Power Adder forum with the ones I moved, but it still seemed to rub people the wrong way.

As I am lead to understand it, the redirects don't bump with the rest of the posts, so they're eventually pushed out of the forum eventually becoming unseen?

That's probably the best news I've heard all week. He was a jerk.

I've tried other forums, and they just aren't the same as this place. Stangnet has an excellent ratio of knowledgeable mechanics to sarcastic buttholes to just plain strange people, and everyone gets along for the most part. Most other places tend to really put you down if you make a mistake, or won't even take you in for being a new guy. I have a friend on Mustangboards, and I tried getting involved over there, but it's just not the same. :SNSign:

I think there is some things that have to be improved in tech on this site and in a few months when my work schedule permits I am going to talk to the other mods and get tim involved on some changes.

I do think post whoring in tech did jump up some after post counts were disabled in the talk forums, we do not want to see post whoring and we have been trying to keep the non tech posts out of tech.

I don't take offense to your suggestions about this website, I just take offense when people say we have bad tech here..

BTW you can let the old guard that have left know that 4.6 tech is much more controled now and we would welcome them to post here. there is no law that says you can only post on one forum
