I have a stock 95 GT and I recently changed my distributor (squeal of doom, hard warm start). When I had the old distributor out, I noticed that the new one didn't look exactly the same as the old one. I checked part numbers and found out that the new distributor was for a 95 F-150. I put it in anyway and set the timing to 10 degrees btdc. The car starts normally at all times now, but it's definitely down on power now and idles a bit rough. Would the F-150 distributor cause this? (I have a feeling this is a very stupid question, but before I go spending $200, I want to be sure I'm right about this)
It definitely looks different from my old distributor. I'm just going to buy one from my local dealership and keep this one on my desk as a lesson to NOT try to take the cheap way out anymore.
