I bought an 8 point cage a few weeks ago and I'm now having it welded in. My question is, is it normal for a 8 point kit to come with only ONE sill bar on the driver side. I called them because I thought they forgot to ship the one for passenger side. They said that NHRA only requires one side, and it's an option to have the passenger side sill bar/brace. I wish I knew it was a option when I ordered it, so I could have bought it with the kit. Has anyone had this same issue with their cage from wild rides, is this normal to only have ONE sill bar/brace?

You mean the bar from the main hoop down to the front footwell area? If thats the case they are off their rocker if they think you only need a drivers one.

YES, that's the bar I'm talking about.

Here you go. It's right from the NHRA website. From what I understand, if the floor and firewall have not been modified and you're running slower than 9.99 you're ok with just the driver's side sill bar. My mechanic runs in the 10's and his car, which is NHRA approved, has only the one bar.

Not that I'm running this time, but I bought this cage being told it would certify at 8.50 . My floor is modified and I bought a cage not a roll bar.

Never knew those rules, I would say put the passenger bar in, no real point to not do it.

i'd email them that link and then say "how is this cage certified at 8.50 when you're required to have sill bars on BOTH sides at 9.99 or quicker or trap 135mph or faster?" you may not need it for your car, but regardless, they're saying it's certified for cars running a certain speed/time when it's clearly not.

I finally recieved my email back from the NHRA Tech and he said "The passenger side rocker/sill bar is not required, for 8.50-seconds and slower."

I still think that's I got a bar installed there anyways, to help with the body flex.
