X pipe?

Im thinking about getting a x pipe are thay all pretty much the same for make power and sound and looking at getting a non-catted pipe.

you'll prbably want a true x pipe. someone will chime in and say which ones those are. i prefer the muscle car sound of the H, so i dont know much about the x

Dr Gas. (requires welding)
VRS

UPR

Stamped X pipes are:
Bassani
BBK (dont think about this, sounds like poopoo)

i had a dr gas, by the way its freekin loud, if u got a popo on ur butt, be sure to shift at 1500 rpm cause anything above that is just stupid loud

me too.....it has the removable cats with the o/r legs....came off my 97 GT.....didnt fit the kewbra.....

the slp x pipe is one of the best IMO, it has the removable cats in case you have to worry about inspection, or if you want a little quieter for a long trip. dr gas x is the best sounding by far IMO as well, not alot of difference considering the design is about the same.

Tru-X pipes will have very little to no horse power gains compared to the regular X pipes. Just stick with what ever you think sounds the best. Don't get a vertain brand pipe because some one told you. Every one likes different exhaust tones. You can listen to some sound clips at www.mustangexhaust.com .

I'm pretty happy with my SLP. It's stainless [as opposed to aluminumized] and the fit was very good.

Any one of the major brands would be a good buy. You pretty much just need to decided on the material you want it made of (stainless, or standard) when you buy it. As for the cat less idea.....back when converters were crazy expensive and restrictive, I was all over the idea of getting rid of them. But high flow cats can be had for as little as $55 a piece now and the horsepower loss (about 2hp) over the true O/R set up isn't worth getting the smog police all over your back. Not only that, but it will help keep the cabin area quiet and keep the noise out back, flowing out the tailpipes like it should be.

I noticed that the true-x x-pipes are not as raspy and sound smoother than the stamped x-pipes like Bassani. I've had both and had alot more raspiness with the Bassani....i kinda miss it cuz i think it was a bit louder

I like the SLP design since installation is really easy because of the 3 piece design. Allowing you to change your mind on long tube headers and cats. You can always get the catted setup first and the OR section later if you decide that the catted pipe is not loud enough. I bought the OR first now I have to get the cats since its a little too loud. It's alot more expensive than buying the catted pipe first then the OR section.

i have the bbk catless. i hate the loudness and raspiness. having catco high flows installed. catted x's are about 400. catless are 200 plus 100 for cats. ill post the difference tomorrow when i get the cats installed. catless require extensions 30 at summit and mil eliminators 60 at summit. i dont theink you need mil.s with catted pipes so thats 60 buvks you donthave to spend. lol

main thing on the x-pipe is the location of the crossover and the design of the crosover.

If you look at them you will see there are some differences as to the design.

the BBK and the bassani are a bit different. they are kind of like a champber. the magnaflow is a bit unique as well. It is like two pieced of pipe that cross through each other.

I went with the vrs because it is the cheapest stainles pipe that was just a standard x-pipe design. you have two pieces of bent pipe that are just are opened up and then welded together to create an crosover.

as for who makes more power and all that I don't know the exact answer I just know the dr. gas, slp, VRS are more what I considered to be a normal x-pipe.
