I will be recieveing my Sct Xcal2 shortly, and I read the f.a.q. online which states:

Q: I recieved My Xcal2 today. In the instructions it states Disconnect the Fuel pump and fan Fuses....Where are those located exactly and what do they look like?

A: This depends on what model/year vehicle you own. The Fuel pump and fan fuses are usually listed in your owners manual and also inside the fusepanel cover. Pulling the fuses is necessary on all 96-97 vehicles, but may not be necessary in other years (although we do recommend it). We recommend it because it prevents battery drain during flashing, which may cause problems if your battery is low.

I have a 98' GT, which is basically the same as a 96' - 97'. Does anybody know if I have to disconnect those fuses, and if so, which ones are they? Thanks in advance!

disconnect those fuses. The xcal2 turns on the fans and the fuel pump when it programs the vehicle. If your battery goes dead while its flashing, you are screwed.

The fuses are under the hood. Should be a small 20 amp fuse for the FP and a large 50 amp fuse for the fan, IIRC.

I never remove them myself unless I am programming a 6.0 deisel but to be on the safe side if your battery is old and weak you might want to remove them..

If the battery does die during programming then you will need to tow to the dealer and do a blank path PCM programing.. I have had to do this a few times for this reason.
