I just got a XCAL2 and the "91 octane" tune the dealer gave me is crapola (2 seconds slower 0-60, one rear o2 turned off??). Before I go and complain I though I would see if anyone here had a good tune for a stock 02 GT(Cal code MDE3). I'm thinking if he messed this first tune up he probably doesn't know what he's doing and won't be able to fix it.

How are you calculating your 0-60 time?

Complain and have him fix it, or tweak the settings yourself.

I am using the xcals data logger to calculate the 0-60 times. I will complain if I have to but I'm not overly confident he knows what he's doing and can correct it. I would tweek the settings myself but things like turning on/off O2 sensors are not user adjustable.

You sure? That should be an option

At least your data logger is working. I can't get mine to work. How are figuring 0-60 times with your data logger? Pearl02.

I logged speed as one of the parameters. When I load the log into the live link software it generates a time based graph. If anyone wants to see how data logging works on a xcal2 download the livelink software from sct @ http://www.sctflash.com/downloads.php and rename the attached file to .csv. I think the data logging feature of this unit is pretty damn cool!

I've asked questions there about the data logger. I have all the current livelink files. I can't get my Xcal to load the paramters I want to data log from my pc. I'm still working with it. Pearl02.

Usb...You need a dyno or street tune. As good as some claim the mailed canned tunes are, nothing beats having the car tuned by a good shop. My canned tune was terrible. After the dyno tune I gained 5 tenths at the track. Any my 89 octane tune was unusable. It would spit and sputter when I would try to pass...I found that out when I tried to pass a Chevy Blazer and he stayed along side of me for a mile.

Pearl...did you load the lateset update to the handheld? Mine was one of the first off the line and I had to wait for updates. Once I loaded them it worked just fine. But the logger software doesn't work with Win98...I was old school. I bought a laptop with XP and it worked fine doing the passthrough. I didn't keep the Xcal2 long enough to get the onboard datalogging feature. I decided to go with a 4 bank chip and dyno tune and traded it.

Agreed. Yes, I do have lastest versions and I have XP. I also bought one of the origanal Xcals form a speed shop here. We waited for awhile to get many of the features promised to us. I've learned a lot "playing" with it. I'll learn more when I get the data logger going. Thanks Pearl02.

What mods have you done with your car?

My Xcal2 was tuned by Kenny from Modular Depot and its pretty good.

Most tuners will turn off the rear o2's by default. I bet yours are off too.

The blue graph is my 93 octane tune
The red graph is my 93 octane tune leaned out 2%
The green graph is my stock tune.

My car is stock except for a drop in K&N. I expected both rear O2's to be turned off but when I data log the O2's only one is turned off. Return the stock programming and they are all back on. Go figure.
