What got you into this habit? Why a Mustang, and probably the question I hear the most, why do you put ALL your money into that damn thing? Haha. My Dad got me into my addiction with his '88 GT. He bought it off the showroom floor back in 1988 and kept it stock until 2001 when a factory flaw caused him to rebuild his engine. Whoever put the cyls in the block put the #8 cyl in backwards and caused the wall to become egg shaped. So instead of replacing the parts with stockers he decided to go aftermarket and never looked back since. Ever since he trusted me to take that car out for a drive I was hooked. Now I have my 1995 GT and havn't looked back either

Gramps owned a Ford Dealership. grew up with an ALL FORD OWNING side of the family. cuzins a big man at Ford Motor Comp. other is mechanic. ..began when i was 4 and my dad showed me what he had hidden in the back garage.... one day he pulled out a 1969 Mustang, babyblue conv. black leather int. ..all original 13k on it.
needless to say, i fell in love and have been nuts over Stangs ever since.
finally senior year i bought n paid for my own 1995 Gt! Best day ever!

My dad had a 1965 fastback stang he was looking to restore but never got around to it (decided if he really wanted one he would buy it restored). I always thought it looked badass.

I myself never liked mustangs except for the classic stang. I was looking at eclipses/supras (I was ALL about looks not engine). I REALLY needed a car so I test drove a 94 gt and was suprised how fun it was to drive. Since then the mustang look has grown on me and I love the fact that these cars can go fast with relatively little money.

Haha. I come from a strong GM background. My dad is a master GM technician. I've helped my uncle as well through the years ... a master Ford technician ..... who I helped restore his '67 Chevelle. Going to car shows / drag races throughout my life is what turned me to Blue Oval. The very moment I looked at my first '70 Mach1 in person at a car show .... I fell for the Mustang. & I swore to myself that I'd own a '69 or '70 someday. (Hence the avatar / SN.) That very car won 1st place at the show .... then turned right around & ran an 11 second 1/4 on the track. I've now owned 2 SN95's .... possibly 3 here soon. I have 4 Fords sitting in the driveway right now & will never turn back. As of now .... the only GM product I would even consider owning is a Grand National. If I never get one of those, you'll probably never see a "GM anything" in my driveway. I also may see another RX-7 in my future ... but other than that .... I'm all FORD baby.

I dont have any deep family roots in mustangs...or in cars in general. So everyone looks at me like i lost my mind for being so into mustangs and cars in general.

But anyway, i actually initially wanted a 98+ trans am but 5 years ago, i couldnt afford one. So i got a v6 stang...started making it look good but realized a v6 = slow lol. So i eventually sold it and got my 95 GT. Did some cosmetic mods and started ripping into the motor.

The thing that gets me is the ability to make the car so unique with so many parts avail. out there. And its sort of like my stress reliever(one of them ) nothing like wrenching on the stang all day with buddies or by myself, although that can be stressful when ***** breaks, and there is nothing like just driving around cruising. Feels like you are in your own world especially when you have rebuilt most of the parts on the car with your own hands.

For me its so wierd...i obviously got into cars because of my dads side of the family. My dad and uncle are both very into cars, and both have a few special projects of their own. My father is a die hard GM guy. The only ford hes ever owned was a 94 brono off the showroom floor, and had it for 12 years and LOVED it. He tried to get me into GM cars but they were either too expensive, or at one time i wanted a 67-69 camaro but he said too many people had them...be original. So a short time later, i actually got into classic mopars. I was DEAD set on a 68-69 dart for like 2 years. I looked, and looked, and looked to no avail. Finally a green one came along with a perfect body, black vynil (sp) roof, 318ci, 4spd which i went to look at. It was decent until i stepped into the car and my foot went straight thru the rusted floorboards to the street....ALL the way down. At that time i realized i need a newer more reliable and i ALWAYS had a special place in my heart since i was about 6 for fox mustangs, but my dad didnt like them. Finally i got him to realize that i could get a nice fox mustang for about the same as a ****ty condition old car, and not have to restore it like i would have to the old one. When it came time to buy one we looked around, and he drove cause i had just gotten my permit and didnt know how to drive a stick yet. He fell in love!! So we go to look at this 88 lx hatch 5.0, auto, black on black, rough paint, crazy offset 100s spoke wheels, and 120k on the ticker. I would have gotten it for $1900, painted it, put wheels on it, and woulda been happy, but there was this red 95 GT across the lot on a stand by the road that i just kept gravitating to. The salesman finally caught on to me constantly looking at it, and said to my dad for a lil bit more, your gonna get a MUCH better car. Took the car off the stand, test drove it, and i bought it 15 minutes later with my own $ i'd been saving since i was 6 for a car

Theres nothing i like more than to have a few buddies with me out in the driveway wrenching on our cars. Thank god all my car buddies have mustangs:SNSign:

i had always loved camaros when i was younger. 67-69 and then the 4th gens when they came out. I was looking to get one of either of them for a while but could never get enough money for either. All of my friends had mustangs, so i decided to go to FFW with them. After that weekend i realized what i could get and for how much money. I then bought my 1988 convertible that i had until this past fall, then bought my 95 from the car dealership i worked at.

First time I heard a 5.0L fox w/ an o/r H and flows, it started the craze. I was only 13 or so when I first heard one (and recognized what it was), so it took a while to get one, but as soon as I had enough money to choose what I wanted, I bought mine.

My situation is weird cause no one is in my family is a car enthusiast. They're completely against racing so I guess my love for the car and the need for speed just grew on its own.

i'm with you and nate. i am the only car guy in my family and they all think i am nuts for wanting to go fast.

i like the stang cuz it is like you are a teacher teaching special ed. it's easy for a smart kid to keep getting smarter, but it is awfully damned hard to make a slow person a rocket scientist.

Well for me i always heard about racing from my dads side of the family. Whether is was my distant cousin in his 70 GTO judge or my great uncle in his 67 fastback. Also my dad used to work on a dragster of his buddies when he was young. Also the fact that I head all the crazy Woodward Ave. (Detriot MI) stories. Everything from his 70 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler 428CJ or his best friends Yenko Camaro. I basically grew up hearing about cars since I was born.
None of them really thought The first car i ever help build would be a 400+hp turbo acura integra.

I have always been a chevy guy, wehn i was younger in grammar school and up me and my friend used to make fun of fords, with all the "rustang" comments and what not. When I turned 16 i drove my parents truck until i was 18 and started college, i needed my own car to commute back and forth, this is when I started lookin for cars. I always wanted a 98+ trans am but the biggest thing that turned me off about them (besides price) was there gigantor front end, I knew this would be a pain in the arse for everyday driving, and I always had somewhat of a soft spot for 94-98 mustangs, 99+ were too expensive, fox's were too ugly. I knew absolutely nothing about mustangs but I had always listened to this kid in my high school car on how he wanted a 95 GT cuz it was the last of the almighty 5.0's. THis kid was over obsessed, everyday he would talk to us about getting one and how we was gonna sell his T-bird for one. At the time i never listened to him but i guess deep down he was my biggest motivator. However I almost ended up getting a 3000gt, really close, I told him I was lookin at a few other cars and when he asked which ones i told him about the mustang, and he trash talked it like no other "there domestic crap, and you see them everywhere." His car had a knocking noise in the engine so i passed, a week later my dad hands me keys and i run down to the garage to find the mustang. THat was a great day. The kid with the T-bird still hasnt bought his dream mustang lol (and envys me) and my other friend who used to trash talk fords ended up buying a Mercury Marauder, go figure. And now I am here, and love the mustang community :SNSign:

My Dad worked at Ford for years and years, so naturally I wanted a Camaro.

Since I wanted a sporty-kinda car, the option I had was to either take the Mustang (which my Dad bought for dirt cheap) or have car payments (my parents were going to give me some money, but I didn't have any).

So.....I was forced into the Mustang.

That's funny. It seems most of the techs at the Ford place where my uncle is are driving Camaro's & other bowtie crap. Yet, at my dad's Chevy place, there's Fox's & 302 Ranger's sitting around. Maybe they want something different other than what they see everyday?

Ford Dealership is on our street, we had a taurus when I was growing up.

Friend had a 94 Cobra, I liked it.

My dad suggested a Mustang, I bought it in 04 a 94 GT 5-spd with 36,000 on the clock, let him drive it, now he wants one too, only thing lucky bastard is getting an 06 GT.

Nobody in my family likes cars except my uncle. He's been into everything fast from mopars to fords to chevys. Never imports though. He got me into fast cars when I was very young.

He owns a genuine 1987 Grand National GNX that he has taken into the 10s. Of course he still has all the original components!!

I wanted an 86 or 87 Grand National in the worst way but its like trying to find a clean Fox, they've either been beaten to death or cost a mint. The mustang was "fast" and fit the budget, so here I am. I've really grown to appreciate them but I'm not a Ford fanatic by any stretch. I just like nice, clean, fast cars.

But he used to subscribe to one of the classic Mustang magazines, and I used to look at them back before I was even old enough to drive. I've always been into cars in general, but I'm not totally sure what got me started on the Mustang thing. But I've always owned at least since I was old enough to drive, and don't see that changing anytime soon...
