I'll preface my statement by saying that I love my car (as common, plain, and simple as any other fox as it may be) to the point of it being a removeable appendage. I have turned down sex (see story later) to work on this thing. It's important to me.

BUT! If it ever came to selling it for pennies it to keep a roof over my head and the gubment off my back, bubba, you bet its gonna out the door quick. It's not our business to know how deep you are with the IRS. But if its half as bad as you have made it out to be, get rid of it for whatever you are able to so you can at least have a place to build another one.

I don't see a debate here. Cars are just a material object, as much as we try to personify them. I may have to sell mine soon anyway to pay for a masters degree. It'll suck, I'll be miserable for a while, and I'll stand to lose $10k. The end benefit is I will be working to double my income and can build whatever I can dream up once I get that degree.

My $.02.

Ahhh................ the voice of reason.

I agree w/ everything you just said. I am not in jeopardy of losing my house, Im just tired of the proverbial back tax monkey on my back. I know that it's only a car, and have resigned myself once again to readjust the reserve to make sure I get it sold today. This is a much higher end venue, and there is a significant higher degree of quality offerings here as well. This is Nashville, and there is money here to be spent, so,...if it comes close to the "reasonable" zone today,..I'll sell it.

kar·ma

   [kahr-muh] Show IPA

noun

1.

Hinduism, Buddhism . action, seen as bringing upon oneselfinevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in areincarnation: in Hinduism one of the means of reachingBrahman. Compare bhakti ( def. 1 ) , jnana.

2.

Theosophy . the cosmic principle according to which eachperson is rewarded or punished in one incarnation accordingto that person's deeds in the previous incarnation.

3.

fate; destiny. Synonyms: predestination, predetermination, lot, kismet.

4.

the good or bad emanations felt to be generated bysomeone or something: Letsgetoutofhere.Thisplacehasbadkarma

I don't know whether it's Karma, or "Carma",...but either way..... I still have it.

I said if it came close to reasonable,..I'd accept the offer and it'd be sold.

I don't know about you guys,...but I don't consider 7,000 reasonable. . The guy that was my "liason" ( the guy on the big live auctions talking to the seller, trying to convince him to lower his reserve) leaned in the passenger side window, and said "if it'd help me out,...he'd go 7500.00 cash in hand".

I told him it'd help me out if he'd stop talking.

So now I stop trying to sell it. I drive it back and forth to work,..and to Mustang Week next month. If my "Feng Shway" get's better, I'll look into putting the MOAC's on the engine this fall or winter. The "hand wringing" "rationalizing" and "second guessing", over for now. Noobz347

You may see this right now as bad Karma and probably wouldn't know any different unless you saw the thing drive away. I however... think it's a victory.

I do however, need to keep possession of the rubber mallet to smack you in the head with for the next thread I see where you're wanting to MOD something on it.

Try thinking of it as a new car under warranty. Put gas in it. Change the oil... and driiiiiiiiiive.

Ohh pi ss off! Me "wanting" to mod something, and being able to afford it right now, are as far apart as you and I are geographically.

I have been "driiiiiving" it. Waaaay more than alot of folks on here w/ a car possessing certain "unreplaceable modifications" should be. I have no plans to change anything now, until I get things "situated." I don't expect that will happen for the rest of the year. The Webers are my future plan, and that'll be the next rabbit I pull out of my hat ( or ass, I don't know just yet) But they are of No significant importance to the existing combination, which suits me just fine for now.

I'm glad it didn't sell too. Who's to say the buyer wouldn't try to deface your work with a giant 2000 cobra R wing or something awful like that? Hopefully the other situation gets mediated sooner than later and we can all continue to be awed by your work

I would have jumped on that 18K offer all day long. That is crazy money for a one off Fox, IMO. I just don't think the car has broad appeal. It is more an interesting piece of artwork than a useable car. Maybe a collector would jump on it, but they are usually more interested in Factory original/restored cars than modified ones.

Everything happens for a reason Mike. I believe that as long as you are logical and diligent about things, everything will work itself out in the end...for the better. One day at a time, that's all you can do.

The 18k offer was a fallacy,...When it came to "show me the money" the money never got shown. (Gotta watch the entire episode with me, and not just the highlights)

I agree. Everybody attached to me,...My wife, son,..and alot of you guys didn't want it to sell in the first place.

(Clearly, it was all of the collective "chi" that willed the sale to a "NO-GO" status.)

I was probably willing the sale to no-go right along w/ the rest of the collective.

Your car is beautiful , but I think 10-11k is good money for it. Its not really drop dead gotta have it (imo). Nothing in the car is overboard except the exterior. the 2v swap is nice but the AC in the trunk is a bit off. I would have just sold the car, most people sell there build up notches with dart blocks, turbos, t56's, and all the trimmings from 14-18 and they cost 30-40 to build.

Hopefully you will find that one guy that has to have it and you get what you want but if not you could always trade it for something easier to sell.

Disregard my post in your Jer Bear thread, I have read it here. I too, am glad it didnt sell. You will come up with the money to pay the IRS, and be glad you still have the car a few years from now. We always make more money (assuming one has a job), but you may not always be able to re-create that one-off masterpiece you once made. Just keep it, and post up more stories to keep us entertained.

Which one are you? Are you the guy that looks into my garage to watch the monthly "Mike losing his s hit show," or are you the guy w/ the 25 year old son who crossed the street and stole $2,000.00 in equipment and company checks (that he made out to himself) outta the front seat of my work truck?

You didn't mention whether or not your 30-40k estimates are labor inclusive, or all based on cost of hardware alone.
Even at $30.00 per hour, if I had to pay some body shop to do the body work on my car, it'd be 30k w/o one piece of hardware. I don't know of any bodyshop even doing custom bodywork for 30.00 per hour, do you? ( or ANY bodywork for $30.00 per hour for that matter)
I realize that the end result of that bodywork isn't for everybody,.....but it doesn't take a trained eye to know that there is a bazillion hours in the labor to get it there.
The parts,.....now there is a different story. We all try and forget the "investment" we've put into these cars to get them to the perfect stage, ( and for the sake of my marraige I try to forget,.....conveniently) but if I remember correctly.......OH hell let's just look shall we?

This doesn't take into consideration the goofy assed homemade K member, subframe connectors, crossmember, or the fact that I payed that painter through traded out labor,....most of these "guesses" are low, and I'm sure I've forgotten some stuff,...
But I certainly have just as much in my car as your Dart block based/turbo build cars you cited.

Not that it matters anyway,....I'm not selling it anymore anyway. I'm keeping it for the rest of the year at least.
