tried it? well kinda
a couple of my buddies rigged up a leafblower to a nissan pickup back in high school. bungeed the blower down to the motor, tied the hood down and drove around. lets just say the motor didn't agree with the fun.

it doesn't really work. they don't flow enough to help on our motors (would definitely flow enough on a little 4 banger though), plus its the same output at all rpms, which doesn't work out very well for the engine.

My friend from high school did it to a old escort winter beater. When he got a truck for winter we decided to have some fun with the escort. he ended up putting a leaf blower on it just for fun and it seemed to work until the motor died up on it. Memories :)

i for one, am a huge fan of the duel "twin turbo" hair dryers. Get yourself some Conair 1800W hair dryers and go to town. (i have no idea how you'd hook those up to your exhaust though) But then again, you'd need TWICE the extension cord, so that idea is out. :notnice:

extension cord?? guys you aren't thinking. that's what power inverters are for. get a nice power inverter that can handle the current and you're all set.

a decent leaf blower will move between 350 and 400cfm of air, which isn't enough for a 5.0, but would be plenty to add some pressure to a 4 banger. my buddy's nissan didn't last very long, so i wouldn't try it unless you don't need the car.

Yeah - I got a good chuckle out of it all. As for 350-400 cfm for leaf blowers - that's a good chuckle too. Unfortunately, it's not just how many cfm it moves - it's at what pressure it can supply that many cfm. And the way any car engine is gonna be pullin' on it, it can't deliver much of anything.

There's no Santa Claus. All you have to do is look at how many HP a typical supercharger takes to run and compare it to how many HP a leaf blower has. There's simply not enough power there to supply much air at the pressures that are required.

Now dual ConAir hair dryers on the other hand - we may have something there....

leaf blowers were never meant to be on cars :)
ask the company who makes the blower to make car blowers while they are at it!
heck G.E. makes lightbulbs and did you know they make jet engines for aircraft? :)
rolls royce makes cars as well as jet engines as well!
