You guys ever get the impression that with the exception of 05 owners who have had modded 5.0s and older mustangs of all years and perhaps cobras, that 05 owners are a bit nerdy and very uneducated about the technical aspects of engines and workings of cars in general? This hot car has brought a lot of dummies out of the woodwork in my experiences. Guys with money that farm out cold air intake install to their "tuners". Need examples jus check out their forums. Some guy in the 05 forum was suggesting that in order to redline a stock 05 and up mustang gt he recommends first replacing the rods. Yes on a stock engine 3v jus to hit redline. Where do they come up with this ****? They read too many jaded magazine articles and subscribe to everything that shops tell them. jus my 2 cents. interested in what kind of responces my 5.0 brothers respond with.

I love the cars, I think the new car is fantastic and better the my beloved fox in many ways. I also understand the concept of buying a new car with lots of power to begin with and then having someone else work on it if you have the money. But with this some of the things that come out of these owners mouths is jus completely retarded. They almost speak like ricers in the respect that they puppet whatever the "tuner" tells them. We get 05 and up owners at my work all the time that think they know it all and try and tell people what is right and wrong because they read a magazine. They buy the newest hot rod and now they are experts. This statement isnt blanketin all of them jus lots. In turn I myself have considered gettin a cobra and jus chucking boost on one considering the 5.0 killing results that happens. jus my opinions, observations, and experiences.

Yep... seems to happen with every new breed.

I've suggested a basic knowledge knowledge test for entrance to SN but it didn't go over too well. hehehe

Just simple things like...

How many cams come stock on:
86-93 Mustang GTs
86-93 Mustang LXs
94-95 Mustang GTs
03-04 Mustang GTs
03-04 Mustang Cobras
05+ Mustang GTs
07 Cobra

Of course any wrong answer would route the applicant to the corral.

:D

and yes guys, i have nothing better to do then post something like this cause im home sick on a sat night with nothing to do but catch up on car magazine reading, book reading, and car forums.

Well the truth is with most new cars they cost money, and its usually the nerdy guys that have it. With that said its funny, my brother bought one, had never worked on or owned a Mustang before and did things very different then me. I jump in and rip my stuff apart to learn, he grabs a book and does hours of research before touching a wrench. Maybe because he has more money invested this could be why, but everyones different.

Now though, he and my dad have been "building" our 86 GT together, and he has since changed. Now he grabs wrenches and dives in head first. I think its more so the car than the owners per say! :D

Well that's going to be "generally" true on any new vehicle. The people who just want to buy the car and not work on it are going to have the new cars "typically".

I like both, I used to have an '05.

i bought my 90gt and didnt have to work on it at all... i bought it cause of the condition and the looks, and the general fact that ive always wanted one.. im not totally mechanicly retarded, if it came down to it i would attempt to do anything i had too... like i really dont want to but i am going to complete the E-brake that goes along with the all disk on my 5lug conversion.. and some how i put my short throw shifter in too.. ive just always loved the body style, ive always wanted a 5.0, and im happy i got one that is already a decent car with mods that i didnt have to install... i have future plans on doing more mods like shorty headers, valve covers and maybe an added boost (i know it had one..) but im much more happyer with my 90 then i would ever be with an 05- 07 stang.. and im sure down the road ill have to either pay for the fixings, or do them myself... and when that comes up ill have to go from there...

I fall into the "got a car, but wouldn't necessarily like to have someone else do the work, but since I dont have the wrenches , the know how, and back up transportation, will probably NEED to pay someone else to do it so I dont screw it up" catagory. I think that the 05 has attracted its share of "new to the Mustang and cars in general" crowd. But you have to admit, the 3 valve motor is relatively brand new, and the electronics on the modulars are quite more involved than on our 5.0's. So the fact that many 05 owners don't know crap about their cars doesnt really suprise me. I'll bet the same was true for the 99 and up 4.6's and the FI 5.0's when they first appeared. That's what Mustangs do, they attract people that werent really into cars that much, and then change them into gear heads.

Flywheel rating is 300hp, and that guys listening to what salespeople are saying to them. And we all know salespeople have NO idea what they are talking about!

They are similar to the 5.0, good tune 400+ rwhp shouldnt be an issue!

up here in the land where jobs are lost.. fords desperate and you can get one for 20 out the door... but they still have 4 03's left and one cobra that ive had my eyes on... i could prolly walk out of there with that boy for 18 easy!
