Nitto NT555's

im about to need new tires im sure i will by summer ive got falken ze512 275's now and ive liked them but i really wanted nitto's when i bought mine i dont want the drag radial or street drags whatever they are called but i know they have a performance tire for street use i will be getting them in 275 all around does anyone have these? i was wondering how long they last and if they get good traction i go to the track a couple times a year so i want a tire that will hook up thanks for the help

Hey slow3gt. I had the NT555's for about 3 years (approx. 36,000). Good tire for summer driving. They have a nice stiff sidewall which made the car feel very stable at high speeds and when cornering. However, once the temperature went below 40 degrees, the spun like crazy even under 3/4 throttle in 1st and 2nd gear. Snow...forget it. I was all over the road, even when there was just a dusting. Right now I'm running continentals which are OK. I find that they actually hook better than the Nitto's in dry and wet weather; prob due to a softer sidewall. However, they feel significantly more "mushy" at high speeds (parkway) and when cornering. It's kind of a give and take. FYI, I would certainly consider purchasing the Nitto's again for my next tire. This is just my experience, hope it can help.

thanks for the advice yea im definently more intrested in traction when launching than cornering so if anybody knows a good tire for that let me know

Someone's eventually gonna say it, so: BFG KDW2... hook better in dry, hook better in wet, pimp fly ghetto fabulous tread pattern, blahblahblah (I hear they are noisy as hell though).

But I really liked my Nitto's. They lasted about 30,000 miles. Seemed to hook fine the 1 time I went to the track on them, and didn't spin too easily on the street. HP Addiction is right though, seems like just below 40 degrees, they get kinda wild. No experience with any other aftermarket performance tire.

Yup, i say go with the BFG KDW2's. Amazing when its dry or wet and lead to 1.9 60' times at the track even when track prep isn't that good.

BTW, any highperformance summer tire will get pretty damn slippery when the temperature drops below 40 degrees. The rubber compound is just not warm enough to hook well.

I use the Nitto 555's in the front and for the track I am going to use my Nitto 555r's in the back.

I always wanted some nitto drs so I got some and they blow a$$. I cant get traction on the street or especially at the track. But they were used. I will be getting some Mickey Tompson DRs this summer. My buddy has them and they are awesome. Thats just my expirence.

going to have togo with suggesting these aswell. They are great tires and grip the road very well. I have driven them in an SVT Contour and numerous Mustangs they grip very well especially in th corners. They are a little noiser than some tires but if you have a loud exhaust you won' t notice

Some good LCAs will do well in helping you with straight line traction.

It doesnt matter of they are new or used Nittos DRs suck. Buying those was the worst thing I did to my car. Im putting MTs on this summer too.

Drag radials aren't made to last long my friend. They are meant for track use only. If you get MT drag radials, you WILL get 1.5 60ft times.

For the street most people will recommend BFG KDW2 or Goodyear Eagle f1's. But I'm not going to spend $200+ dollars for a frickin street tire. I hear Nitto555's hook pretty good on the street. And for the price, you can't go wrong.

FOr me the Nitto 555's were only like a few bucks cheaper per tire than the BFG KDW2's, which had a better review. Also, the Nitto DR's are really freakin expensive compared to say BFG
