Video clip of my car, walkaround and driving

You guys get caught up in drama too much. This is just a racecar project for me. Of course it's not my only car. It dosn't have power steering/brakes, no a/c or heat, top or anything. I'm not sure if that's aparent...Have you guys ever driven gokarts? You know, the fast ones? That's the most accurate discription of the way this car drives.
It's a built chassis, suspension, and engine. With nothing else. Last time I checked, that was the formula for a good racecar. Not a "socially accecptable" street car. Sorry it's not up those standards. It's kinda like camshaft theory: sacrafice torque down low for HP at higher rpms. I can see by how critical of my personal taste you are, that you must really be in it for other reasons than going fast. I've got the nitrous ready. Now I need a new set of slicks, and the pinion angle needs to be reduced a couple of * and the car will hook.
The fun part is I can legaly drive it on the streets of CA, and neer be required to smog again. And this is in SOCAL. We'll call it a beaurocratic 'loophole'.
Anyway you all have no idea how much care I put into that car. Maybe it's just not your idea of "care".

Forinstance in the first 100miles on the new engine I changed the oil 3 times already.
I call that "CARE"
Have fun with all those pretty cars, but I bet mine will equal or better speed of any stockblock 306/power-adder car around.

Oneday, when the car is all done and said, then the body will get fixed and painted.
But for now, the car is a brutal fast rush that I love, and take care of.

That's all that matters to me. :p

Honest question...Why did you put all those stickers on your passenger side window? In case you ever forget what parts you put on the car or what? I cannot see any logical reason for doing that, at all

You know why your catching so much crap about your car? Because everybody knows somebody like you, I know I do lol. Theres a difference between a racecar and just downright rigged. And its a vert anyways, I dont think Id make a racecar out of a vert.

And yes...+1 explain all those damn stickers lol, I know you dont own half of those parts.

Its funny, peoples ideas of race cars differ greatly. We have a 91 in house that is a race car. It looks mint, the chassis is stiff as a rock, interior is clean, and it was running 11s with a stock bottem end, stock cammed, GT40P motor. Now it is getting a 393 with some spray (hello 9's?) and some weight reduction, but I would never ever be seen with it like this.

My question is, what makes your chassis race prepped? If the battery is held down by bungee cords it sounds dangerous, not just visually scary! I guess Im the kind who wants a race car that looks as clean as my show car. Makes working on it easier, and nicer!

I would love to put you in my rear view mirror... :) I should note though I also changed my oil three time...I'M KIDDING PEOPLE...I'm just teasing. I must admit I'm not sure what you consider built...the car is a stripper for sure but in no way appears "built" with all the corners you appear to have cut, but hey at least you have a Zex kit, my wife has cut me off from the 'car toy fund' this yr (curse that beautiful baby :)) so likely I will have to play on motor only :( BOOOO HISSSS BOOOO

Engine sounds good, I would go to the junk yard and find a fairly decent LX coupe or hatch and swap engine and all other supporting components. Then you can keep all the interior (or most of it) and it would still be lighter than your gutted vert.
And for the stickers, start scraping those bad boys off! No need to advertise 3 different brands of cams when you only got one!

Okay here's the sticker deal. I started putting them on as I got parts. I would drive with the wondows down, and I swear I never got any street races. Then rolling the window up somehow made people want to race. Someone said I had 3 cam makers stickers on the window. DID IT OCCUR TO YOU THAT COMP LUNATI AND CRANE ALL MAKE MORE THAN JUST CAMSHAFTS. I, FORINSTANCE, HAVE A CUSTOM LUNATI CAM, COMP TIMING GEAR AND TRICKFLOW/LUNATI AND CRANE MAKEUP THE VALVETRAIN. I DID NOT "FALSE ADVERTISE". :notnice:
Also the windows are on thier way out, along with gutting the doors. The bumpers, top, and rear windows are already gone. (Less weight= faster.):p

The battery is in transition into an alum. box, the straps are temporary.
I didn't like the red plastic one.

The chassis is "race prepped" in my eyes by ridding it of anything unnesscery to make it go faster, adding torque box reinforcments, sub-frame connectors, welding numerous seams, (wich increses the overall structural ridgidy, and allows the suspension do it's job better) a 4pt. cage (soon I will be elsing in 2 more bars connecting up to the front) I guess a mini-tub/tubular K is next.
But what would you call it??
And finally I wanted a convertable racecar. :ban: me.
I can literaly roll this car along so easy just pushing if with one hand, It really is, a light car. I need to go get it on the scales. A truckstop maybe?

Glad you all liked the videos.

Well for one the rolling thing is one thing. My car is not that light (at the moment it isnt that heavy, as the trunk and hood are off as well as some interior pieces) but it rolls without me even touching it. I thought the brakes were going to be hung up on me for some reason, until the car would not stay put where we stopped it.

Second I guess thats a good start to a race chassis. The cage and stuff I assume was welded with the car set up flat on the ground and measured to every corner to make sure it was straight and square? The seams out back were welded solid, and the subframes set up the same as the cage. The front tubes will help a ton. My dads 91 has a 6 point in it, and if we have it on 4 jack stands, we can go to each individual stand and move it. Also jacking the car up on one corner will in turn lift 3 wheels in the air, and like that we can open and close the doors with one finger. A strong chassis is key to getting the car to hook, which in turn is key to getting the car down the track efficiently.

All the weight loss is good to a point. A lighter car is harder to hook. Our 91 with 300 lbs in the trunk would hang the tires a foot or so but when we take the 300lbs out of the trunk it was finicky off the line. Granted we had it set up well, and it did grab a 1.56 60' without the weight out back, but it normally sat in the low low 1.6xs.

I say you have a goal and the motor looks like it should be stout, but getting the car to hook and run hard is going to take a lot of trips to the track and tweaking, especially a vert, especially a light vert, especially a light vert with a motor and a bottle. At least your doing your own work and getting the car together faster then me!
