I have a big list of parts that I am ready to buy. I am looking for a good combo that will be streetable.

My plans:
dss shortblock (cnc block, forged internals)
tfs topend kit
built rearend w/ moser axles

this turbo kit:
http://www.turbochargedpower.com/94-95%20Mustang.htm
with 66mm turbo and electronic boost controller

I just want a high 11 or low 12 second street car that will be able to handle the power without motor problems later on. Do I have a good setup that will hold together?? Should I get low compression pistons, or leave them the way they are??

I am not sure who I will get to tune my car. I was thinking strictly performance here in houston since they have a 7second turbo mustang.

Unless you opt for the dss dart shortblock package your wasting your money. The reason being is they use stock blocks for everything else…and as such they have the same Achilles heel as any other late model 302 block. So, instead just do a refresh on your existing block…and throw the turbo on that. Just be aware that if your pushing 450+ h/p that your living on borrowed time. It could let go in a week or a two years…you just really can't tell.

Another area you will need to address is the tranny. I'm not familiar with the auto's…but they do tend to work better with turbo setups. They also can handle more torque…but again, perhaps someone else can interject that has more knowledge. If you have a t-5 however….sell it while it's still in working order. They are week….and they will fail running high torque levels. Replace it with a at least a tremec 3550. The tko 600 would be one of the better choices…it will however require a 26 spline clutch and a new bellhousing.

my stock aode started slipping about 100 miles after my turbo.

I have plans for a j-moded 4r70w now.... Thats if you have an auto. You could just put the turbo kit on a stock engine and 12lbs should get you close to your goals.

I installed the Cartech outlaw system on my stock everything. I have had no problems with anything. I don't take it over 5500 rpms though. I have about 3k miles on it with no problems. Sorry, let me correct here. The one problem I did have was tearing the tork boxes out. After replacing those, no problems. I have not been on the dyno with it so I don't know what hp I am making. I hope to have that done in the next few months.

Well I might change my mind on some of it. I am not sure if I need the TFS toppend kit. I might just go with a cobra manifold and gt40 heads because I heard they like boost.

I was looking at the dss shortblocks with all forged internals. My stock engine already has 118k miles and I am wanting to just go ahead and gete a 331 stroker smallblock that will withstand a beating. I know I will need a new tranny considering the t5 is going to take a crap with that much power.

Does this sound better. I want to be atleast a low 12second car that will last and be a good dd.

-3.27 gears instead of 3.73(in the car now)
-built rearend w/ moser axles
-tremec tranny w/ new clutch
-turbo kit with 60mm turbo
-pro bullet dss shortblock 331 stroker(rated over 550hp)

And I will upgrade the cooling system, such as oil cooler, and radiator

Perhaps you didnt quite understand where I was going. That 331 stroker will not handle an more h/p than your rebuilt stock block. If you were to throw the gt40 top end on your rebuilt block...you would be in the neighborhood off 500rwhp with 12-14psi of boost. Take the money you would have spent on the 331 and invest it into a dart block...as you'll eventually need it.

where can I get a good deal on a dart shortblock?? I was told I should get a 331 stroker because it is great for turbo applications.

A bare dart block alone goes for ~$1950 shipped. They are not cheap by any means...but are really one of the only reliable ways to make the horsepower your asking for. That's not to say you can't "get away" with running your stock shortblock (rebuilt) for a year or two. It's not by any means dependable though...as it's possible that it could only last a week.

As far as the 331 goes...there is nothing special about it for turbo apps. The only thing it gets you is more n/a horsepower...which means you would need less boost to reach your goal. As stated before though...a stock block is a stock block is a stock block.

well Im not planning on running a ton of boost. I just want to put down a little over 500rwhp. It will probably be a good idea to go ahead and get a dart block incase I ever want more :D :p
