Am I the only one that feels that the 99-04 Mustang is the red headed step child of Mustangs when it comes to aftermarket parts? Limited selection and very high prices...

Fox stuff is cheap and everyone is falling all over themselves to make stuff for the 05+

Here is an example of what I am talking about: http://www.glassbackroof.com/

Thats because the guys buying the 05+ cars like the styling because it reminds them of when they where young.

IE they are old and have alot of disposable income. That being said the aftermarket for the 4.6 2V is still better than most cars by a HUGE margin.

Add 96-98 then too being as they're exactly the same minus the NPI fact.

There is probably fewer and fewer Fox stangs still on the road.
They probably have a surplus of parts to unload....... supply and demand
But I see no lack of aftermarket parts at all. Only Honda parts could rival
the availability of "mods" for any other car than Stangs.

You poor guys, at least you can get replacement panels for 99-04's, try that for the REAL Red Headed Step Children, then come talk to the II guys about no aftermarket parts. And you wonder why we get so defensive about our cars?

But I agree, fox stuff is a dime a dozen, and everyone is all over the 05+ because they are the new trend, it would be nice to actually get some parts(in my case for the II's) for the other styles out there.

I agree entirely. Its like everyone ignored the 4.6 until they made the '05s, and now they are suddenly interested.

I cant believe none of the big players have released a manifold for our motors yet. PI headed stangs have been around for 8 years and they still haven't done it. Its also crap how a supercharger for a fox is so cheap yet the price for ours hasn't really dropped at all even though its an old model car now.

Exactly. You want to talk about the red headed stepchild of mustangs, well here we are, right above mustang II's. What I don't get is, how much slower is a 96-98 gt compared to a 94-95 gt? Why are we the red headed stepchildren?

How do the 96-98 GTs have any less aftermarket parts? Hell Ford Racing even sells heads and an intake for you guys.

You can get anything for them that you can for a 99-04 car. All boltons, body parts, wheels, brakes, blowers, etc.

As for the Mustang IIs, well they arent really mustangs anyway :rlaugh:

Well lets see....a buddy of mine has a 94 GT. He still pulls me even after everything you see in my sig. I'm getting tuned this week so hopefully that helps but still, it's depressing.

Here is a vid of us, his car is the camera car in all...the Automatic alone just kills me on rolls. BTW this IS truly a closed course. Privately owned family land just out of town that nobody has access to without our permission.

thats just b/c they know that most S197 owners are old, baby boomer douche bags and teeny boppers who would be stupid enough to put something like that on their car.
This almost makes sense. Wait...no, it just sounds a bit like a generalization based upon opinion.

The II carried the pony car nameplate through some tough times. Perhaps you should read up more on the subject matter before dismissing it. :)

Mustang owners bashing Mustangs makes absolutely no sense to me at all.

Wow, that's depressing...

lol

all the 05+ have are ****loads of styling and ricer mods, and boltons. big ****ing whoop.

the Fox's have alot of performance aftermarket because they were using the same motor and chassis for 15 years.

the 96-04 4.6 has quite a good aftermarket, its expensive, but thats because the demand for things like full rotating assemblies, heads, etc are still low because youre still paying 10k+ for the car. when the value drops and the car becomes more affordable to those who just want to race it out, price for parts will get cheaper.

05+ owners = big spending baby boomers for the most part so making the aftermarket parts = $$$$ for the vendors...Ford being the first on the bandwagon and threatening to sue anyone that used its images/names etc to keep its market share.

The body style is starting to grow on me so in a few years there will be a large inventory of modified GT's on the market with low miles to choose from. Hopefully they can get the diaper and Ben Gay smell out :)

But seriously it was a joke geez.
