57.25 rear in a 67

I have a 57-59 9” (same as a 64-66) in my 67. Your wheel wells stay the same size so you cant really fit and any wider tires than before.

But if you had a certain size tire that was a bit wide on the current back spacing it can help. Mine are 265’s and were hitting the lip (non rolled). Now that problem is gone.

If you are picking wheel from scratch then it shouldn’t matter because the wheel well is the same size. So with the proper backspacing you should be able to fit the same size wheels and tires.

I like the look a deeper dish wheel in the back so the narrower rear allows for that.

If you want 15" rims I think you are better off with the shorter rearend. For some reason, other than drag race wheels, you can't get enough back spacing. If you want 17" wheels you are better off with the standard width.

i had my currie 9" rearend made to be 1/4" shorter total than a 66 rearend for my 17's, but i can still run my 15x8's with 26x10 et streets at the track that have 4 1/4" of backspacing using a 1/4" spacer with no tire rub. without the spacer the 15x8's slightly rub on the inside of the wheel well and the leaf.

before i had my currie rear i was running a 66 8" with 275/50/15 nitto drag radials on the 15 x 8's with 4 1/4 backspacing with no rubbing issues on either side of the wheel well.
