kill switch for anti-theft?

Hey guys I want to do a kill switch for my car sense I have so much money invested into it. I was wondering what power source I could tap into. I read that the green wire going to the inertia switch can be used. Any other ideas? Also, where is a good spot to hide the switch? Thanks for any ideas!

Your car already has an anti-theft system built into it by Ford. It's called PATS (PassiveAntiTheftSystem). If you're worried about stuff being stolen out of it then an alarm system would be a good idea.

I'm pretty sure he knows about this lol. Hell, I even have a Clifford alarm system, and I'd still like a switch now. Alarm systems can be disabled or tricked or whatever, if the thief is good enough. But if he can't find the switch, he better have a trailer.

If a thief wants your car, they are going to get it one way or another.

I worked at a dealership for 3 years, found every kill switch and alarm disable rather easily....seems everyone puts it in the obvious places.

As of right now, your best off with something that has shock sensors and a really loud alarm. I have a few ideas on something to design, it would be rather simple just need to get the starter schematics.

How am I wasting my time? If they come by car, and see a club on the wheel, AND a flashing alarm light, they will probably move onto the next car. And if they are dumb enough to break into it, then they will need to TOW it, because they might not find the switch. The more anti-theft devices, the better.

Lets say its a pro....what does the pro care if your car won't start??? They are looking for parts, dont matter where they come from....black market has a market for everything.

When it comes down to it, if your really worried tell your insurance agency everything you have. A car can be replaced...

turns the fuel line off so no fuel is delivered i think... or thats another way.

If a theif has to get a TOW TRUCK to steal my car, then I know I did a good job trying to prevent the theft. Plus, you can buy shifter locks. Then they can't even tow the car, because it won't move!

All in all, I know if a pro wants my car enough, they will get it. But I'm going to make it hell for them to steal it. And like I said before, the more anti theft devices you have, chances are they are going to move onto the next car.

That being said, does any one have a good kill switch write up??

It creates a short in the system, so the car cannot be started unless the switch is on.From what I hear, you can use the wire for the inertia switch in the trunk.

The best alarm I would get is the one that has a remote on your key chain that goes off whenever your alarm goes off, sort of like a pager.

Then there's the Lojack. If someone steals your car, they'll usually leave somewhere for about 24hrs to make sure you don't have a Lojack that can track it. After that, then they'll take it to the chop shop of their choice.

Good point,but they can still tow your car. Dish soap under back wheels, then you can slide the car onto the flatbed and away they go.

I think that the club is a good idea, as well as an alarm. Allowing the theives looking for a quick smash an grab the option of abusing the car next to yours. Hopefully the tow-trucks theives will find a more expensive car to tow than yours

I got lowjack... if I can find out my car was stolen in time, the police here can find the car for me /w the helicopter. Most thieves park the car somewhere for a while, while it cools off. And before anyone says anything, the helicopter here flys 18 hours a day regardless of whether or not they have an assignment, besides traffic. lowjack isn't a deterent, but it will get you your car back if that's what you really want.

Oh yea... lowjack has a newer service now that will alert them if you car is moved without a specific keychain transponder thing. So if your girlfriend goes joyriding /w the spare key you get a cell phone call. Then you can have The Man take her down.

They can't start your car without the key, so don't bother. Just get a Viper 5900 SST; it tells you when someone is messing with your car, that way you can run out in the middle of the night and get beat up.

For my friends Civic, we wired in a toggle switch to his fuel pump, and hid it behind his dash. Easy to get if you know where it is, but somewhat hard if you don't know what to look for. He also has a pedal lock on his clutch.
