TAKE OFF ALL THE TRIM!!! Take the lock cylinders, door handles, mirrors, antenna base, and the molding by the windows. The all have to come off. The finished product looks way better than taping everything off.

You dont know how excited i am to see it when its done.
Is the hood already painted?

What kind of paint are you using on your rear bumper...? I just used regular paint and it all split apart into sections and flakes when some kid sat on my trunk and put his feet on my bumper...that plastic's way too **** soft.

FYI, the trim along the bottom of the window comes off with one phillips head screw per side. Open the door and look at the inside edge of the door, you'll find a short little screw going straight up into the underside. Remove that, and you can slide the trim straight back off. Sand the edge you formed with that primer and finish spraying. You'll be glad you did in the end. :nice:

It looks like some rust holes are still there on the passenger-rear fender lip - is that a photo illusion, or do you have rust-through there, and if so, are you planning to patch it?

Nice,I bet it makes you feel good about getting all primed. One question tho, why do you have the hood masked off like that??

because for now im not priming the hood, front bumper because the hood is protected from the elements so there no need to...

the whole car will be brought down to bare metal where need again in a month or so.

sweet ryan, keep it up man

thanks..

i plan to..like ive said about 90 times......

this is just temporary...to protect it from the elements because it sits outside...this was to get the rust gone so that it would rust no further and too see what im working with...im not painting it in my garage.....were taking it back to piqua where we will have a few extra guys help us with it because i dont have a welder at my house...

all trim everything like that will be taken off and then it will be sanded back down patch panel's welded in and then back into a primer and then finishing body work then paint...

Progress is good. :nice:

very good

Nice, what color is it getting painted, the same Blue? Always nice to see projects come together!

factory

It's really starting to come along. :nice:

yup

true, but to each his own...... looks good keep er up!!!!

yeah hood and front bumper are painted but ill be sanding them down and painting them again anyway because there faded and such...

the drivers door was also left alone..its rusted far beyond repair and I'm having a hard time finding a door that is within an hour or so from me..

i think there some additive you got to add to the paint...Ive never had to mix paint before so i don't know...Todd or my dad always mixed the paint for me and I sprayed it...ill ask him next time i talk to him..

but i know there is something that different that allows it to flex..

read above...this is temporary just to get what rust is there off and covered up so it dont rust anymore....

it will be taken to BARE METAL WHERE NEEDED and back in primer in which ALL TRIM, HANDLES, HARDWARE, GAS TANK DOOR, BUMPER, FRONT BUMPER, FENDERS, WILL ALL BE TAKEN OFF AND THEN BACK TO BARE METAK BONDO ECT PRIMED, SANDED PAINTED AND THEN CLEARED

and yes i know how easy the time comes off.

yes all the rusted sections are still there they were just sanded down,,,grind ed and then i took a wire wheel to knock of the rest of the rust and then primed....i dont have a welder here so that will be done in piqua...yes fender lip same way..yeah im gonna patch it...think i would try and cut Conner's after this long? patch panel will be welded in
