timing belt broke! need help

Anyone know if the crank pulley needs to be removed to change the timing belt on pre-serpentine era cars??

My '79 accessories use twin V-belts, not serpentine. The crank pulley therefore differs.

thnx, but productive? That's somewhat contrary to popular forum etiquette. On some high tech sites, starting a new thread on an old topic can get you banned. They treat threads like technical file folders and try to organize things by cumulatively collecting info on specific topics in a common thread. Most tech forums prefer folks to search and use older threads when they are on-topic. This allows folks to find stuff easier. Having hundreds of threads rehashing the same tech topic and scattered multithread followup discussions can be less desireable.

In this case, I just needed a bit of clarity wrt serpentine vs v-belt. I've since learned that SVO cars retained the early V-belt setup. That was a bit surprising.

thnx anyway.
