I used to hang out in the 5.0L tech and talk... Sold my fox last fall and have been driving a hyundai accent, saving up the pennies for a real car. At first I wanted a Hemi Charger, then a Ford truck... But gas prices are sort of forcing me to stick with a car since the truck I want is a full size 4x4 (nothing else). So I'm in the market for a new used car and thinking about a 2005-2006 Mustang. I will have to drive it in the winter but I'm in Toronto now so it's no big deal and the car would sleep inside anyway.

The SMART thing to do would be to keep the Hyundai or get a Fusion if I want something a little fancier but I can't get the Mustang out of my blood! I miss my Fox body's performance but I don't miss having to work on it all the time and spending all my cash on mods and high maintenance of a 20 year old car plus having to own two cars due to the Fox not being that great on wet roads (mine would want pull a 180 at 60mph by mashing the gas in 3rd gear - LOL) and I don't even want to try it on snow. :rlaugh: I hear the traction control and heavy weight of the new Mustang makes it a tame car.

Just wanted to say a heads up before I start posting in here for real (read: post whore). :) Other than that, hope all you have a great 2008!

HEYYYY!!!!!

Im in the same boat mang since i sold the coupe.. im looking into a newer used car and just can't get the mustang and ford out of my blood!! Looks like we both will be making a migration from 5.oh talk over to s197 talk

:nice:

Tame car if you allow it to be. But it's the fastest production GT ever. Look forward to you joining the S197 crowd. You may not spend much on maintenance, but mods can eat you alive if you let them. They're just as addicting, if not more, than the Fox bodies. There's a wider variety of parts available, though there's still some mods that aren't yet available. Because these cars are still new, the mods do cost more, for the most part.

I'm looking into 05's currently. I have been in love with the new body style since it was a concept. I had 4 fox's and now im stangless. I wanted something comparable in speed with my last coupe i had, yet be very streetable and reliable. I want to take this car on long road trips and serve as DD duty. My coupe wasn't relable enough for me to take on the long 700+ mile road trips i had wanted to. I have a 92 cherokee currently and god for bid it snows i'd just drive that.

Im only looking to spend between 14-18k and the 05's are becoming affordable at that price. I have been trolling this s197 section lately to see what you guys are up to and are saying about the new stang, and ive gotten from you that a tune, intake and exhaust will yield more HP and better MPG.. I can't wait till the summer when i seriously start shopping for one and joining the crowd :nice: :nice:

Same here... they may be more expensive to mod but the results are better too. I don't see myself wanting to change heads, intake, cam, rebuild an engine, clutch, T5 rebuild kit, gears, brake upgrades, living with old body, old school and not easy to mod EFI systems... just to keep up; anymore :D Heck I'm not that much into performance since the "go 30mph over and pay 10,000 fine" laws we have in Ontario now

I wouldn't knock the fox that much, its just as i get older i enjoy the creature conforts. Id rather slap on a blower and some tuning to get to 500hp rather then do heads, cam, intake, different block while beefing up everythign else and then doing a blower to achieve it as you've said. Im just ready for an upgrade i guess
