Im looking at getting a catted Bassani X pipe for the Mustang but will the 302 X -pipe fit on the 351W ?

I know they are two different product numbers so you would think it would not bolt up but Im having a hard time finding the X pipes for the 351W so I was wondering if for the 302 its just a direct swap?

what kind of headers do you have? you might look into getting a dr gas x pipe. the reason being is that it comes in 5 pieces and is custom made for your car. im sure you can get some hi flow cats that you can weld in if you want cats with that setup. the overall design of the dr gas pipe is better than the others. it makes a little more power than other x pipes because of the placement of the crossover vs other x pipes. also, the sound from a dr gas is like no other.

As long as you're running EFI swap headers, it's my impression that the midpipe should be the same. AFAIK, the swap headers have longer primary tubes to move the collector back into the stock position.

I'd assume that they're 351 specific headers (shorty), so you should be good with any midpipe that will bolt to the collectors.

correct, I was just told to never sell them b/c they are worth a lot and they are a good set of headers.

So regardless of a mid pipe being for a 94-95 5.0L it should still bolt up just fine to what I have now? I only ask b/c the mid pipe is custom made so I was not sure.

I had Hooker 351 conversion short tubes and a Bassani X non cat for a 302 and it bolted right up.

I couldn't stand the sound of it though. Every time I would let off the gas to shift it sounded like I had worn out Glass Paks!! I cut the "X" out and put in a "H" and it sounded great!!

what mufflers were you running. my x pipe doesnt sound like that at all.

I'm running the factory Borla's that Saleen used. I think they are the xr-1 race borla's, they are really small and loud. So the cars still sounded pretty good with cats, not too quiet. With the cats off they are pretty loud. With my car at idle next to someone with Flowmasters and no cats you can't even tell their car is running :D

Since my car has D.F.I. I when I let off the gas it's like a carb car it comes down real fast....not slow like with the stock computer. Thats all I could figure why it did it. Once I put a "H" In it quit doing it and sounded great!

One thing I didn't like about the Bassani was how the X was shaped. The incoming exhaust hit the X and had to split to go out ,if you know what I mean. There was not a "straight" shot for the exhaust to go out.
