Ok how do i change the heater core in a 86 GT? pics would be awesome but just give me lots of details i need to fix this soon, riding around with no heat sucks
Here are some links. I don't know the difference in an 86 dash though. Maybe someone else can chime in. Good luck with the project, it's a lot of work.
There are a ton of posts on this, I just got done doing one with a friend on an 87 GT.. Get ready for ALOT of work, more if you're going to tackle it alone.
My best advice.. Take your time, and try to remember where all the screws you take out go.
Lol, reminds me of when I was doing it with my friend (because that was just yesterday) it had been cold here so we connected 3 portable heaters in the back seat and plugged them all inside.. haha.
That wont work for long though, eventually the heater core will start to leak, and can leak into your car. You wont have heat (obviously) so no defogging. I mean, its not as bad as people say it is IMO, it just takes alot of time and patience. That, and the fact that spending a few hundred for it to get done is a waste of money.. lol
yea i wont pay anyone to fix my car, if i cant fix it then it wont get fixed, and having no heat really isn't a big deal if it gets that cold i can drive the other car, hell the mustang has AC in the winter and heat in the summer lol

Lol, you get AC in the winter and heat in the summer when you open your windows.
But like I said, your heater core can start to leak into your car, or into the engine bay down to your headers/exhaust, causing a nice smell and smoke. Then you will have to keep refilling the coolent, untill the heater core really busts and leaks too much to keep refilling.. so you really should change it
There aren't any hoses ran to the heater core i dont know if its bad or not for sure, but i dont really want water in my car so im not going to hook the lines to it
