The Official kiddiccarus 2007 NFL Thread

Just didnt feel like posting about it for awhile. From the end of the game until now its amazing to see all the "new faces" that came in just to give their worthless .02. The only thing worse then band wagon fan is a band wagon $hit talker.

Yes, and I hope you have learned your lesson. Next year when the Pats are kicking the crap out of other teams again, try, just try to be a little more respectful of the other teams and players. They try hard too.

That's not what I meant, My attitude about the Patriots and other teams will never change. Ive always held the same stance in this thread every year regardless of how far the Patriots go. Its not "talk trash only if they win"

Anybody who came in here to gloat after the game and never posted in here the entire season can go **** yourself

thats how I feel about that

Good for you. I disagree with your "LUCK" comment about the last drive though. Eli's had several notable come from behind 4th quarter drives to win the game in the final seconds in his career. It's happened before and it will happen again.

First thing I want to say to you is congrats.. Second is I think you should get to pick the starter of next years NFL thread... You or one of the other Gnats fans get the honor because your team won.

He should have been picked 3 times on that drive.... Samuel had a ball in his hands that Eli threw right to him... The pats just did not get it done

the giants D-line won that game for them in the 2nd and 3rd quarter... i know the qb is almost always the game MVP but the d-line was the real MVP.

The NY Giant fan who gets to start the thread was named a few pages ago & I forget which...

You have some catching up to do.

Yes, the d-line really won the day b/c it threw Brady's game off. However, they were resting on the bench when the score was 14-10 Pats and only 2:30 left on the clock.

BTW: I think the NFL should can the whole Superbowl MVP thing anyway. It's a team sport and too hard to decide who gets what. What if you had a dominant offensive line win the game?

The game would not have been 14-10 with 2:30 left had the defensive line of the giants not played that way it would most likely been atleast a 2 td game at that point.. Eli would never had a chance to have a late SB winning scoring drive if the score was 32-10 or so at that point..

the giants weekness is the secondary no way they could have contained the pats and held them to 14 points without a ton of presure from the D-line

+1... but the D-line had to do exactly what they needed to win the game. If they hadn't been able to get that much pressure for 60 minutes with the front 4, then it wouldn't have been a game in the last 2 minutes.

Gotta give props to that D-line for getting the job done.. they played outstanding that night and will probably give everyone hell again next year; maybe they'll get another 12-sack game, but against the Cowboys this time :D

In the meantime, the Patriots REALLY need to upgrade the DB's and get some younger linebackers to keep them strong all the way 'til the end. They've showed they can win a LOT of games without a loss; 21-straight wins (NFL record, I do believe) and they went 18-0 with the schedule they had this year. Just gotta finish the job this time. I'm sure this loss will drive them to be better next year like the loss in the AFC Championship did for them this year.

That's all part of defense as a whole. If you lack in one area you step up in another. No doubt the Pats have hosses at receiver but when the QB has no time to throw all the best receivers in the world wouldn't help. The DC saw that and decided to run blitzs all night effectively neutralizing that advantage. They couldn't have done that against a mobile QB so another scheme would have to have been used.

Spags used relatively few blitzes. He was aware of Brady being able to beat them. Just occasional. The front 4 did most of the work.

I was wondering about that "used blitzes all night" comment.. I didn't think they blitzed him very much, he just got a LOT of pressure from the front 4 without a lot of help from the others. After getting their asses kicked by the front 4 all game, i'm sure the Pats will realize they need more depth at the O-line.

One point to make here (you may not care though) is that the Giants may have found 2 good young CB's. The rookie Ross had a very good year by anyone's standards. He played the final 2 games with a seperated shoulder and still did well.

One CB in his 2nd year, was not doing well at all. But Cory Webster seemed to have everything click for him by the end of the season. The guy suddently became a playmaker and it was him who batted away a couple long passes to Moss. Unfortunatly Webster fell on 1 TD that left Moss all alone in the end zone for an easy score. The kid's turn around saved the Giant's ass in the playoffs when all the starting CB's were injured.

So, the Giants may be not nearly as bad off as they were 6 months ago in the CB dept. Butler at safety must be replaced. Gibril Wilson is OK and will probably be resigned. The rookie kid, Johnson, is a hard hitting safety and we all want to see more of him but he is still a little raw.

If the Giants do pretty well in the what was a weak secondary & still have a good front 4, next year there will be hell to pay as teams try hard to find a way to slap up some points against them.

Things are looking pretty good right now in Giant land. The ship is on a good course.

The Pats oline along with Dallas's massive line are the 2 best at pass-protect in the NFL. Romo and Brady usually have 1-2 more seconds to throw than anyone else. Depth? Sure every team can use that. Replace/upgrade the Pat's starters on oline? That will be hard to do. Those guys are very good.

I think Strahan's 50 year experience in the league, along with Tuck and Osi probably spend a lot of time with Spags going over tapes & techniques. I would expect the Pats oline to be more prepared next time if the Giants dline did anything they didn't expect.

However, if the Giants dline created that pressure just on speed & strength & technique, there isn't much you can do except have a TE stay back there to help.

Agreed.. the giants got a lot of presure with their front 4.. that i the only way to stop this offense. Blitzing the pats is asking to get smoked.. You need to get presure with your front 4 and keep 7 in coverage once in awile you can add a few blitzes but if you do it too often you will get burned..

This is also true when you play the colts.. If you can presure manning with your line and keep 7 in coverage then you can stop them.. No offense no matter how good the QB is can overcome that, a qb's nightmare is what happend last sunday.. Pressure with nobody open!

Bottom line is the giants did exactly what they needed to do to win and it was the only way they could win..

1. get pressure on brady with the front 4

2. shorten the game ( they were kind of succesful in this by taking up the entire first quarter)

check out www.coldhardfootballfacts.com and look at the article written before the game on the blueprint to beat the pats..

I'll read the article. Thankfully there is one way to stop a high powered offense, although few can do it. The way the NFL is now, it favors the passing game the way the penalties are set against the defense. I like th NFL to have a good balance between offense & defense. I really have no need to see 45-38 game scores. I'd be happy with 28-21 or even 21-17.

 Whatever makes more $$$ I guess.

I didn't mean that they should replace the starters, I just meant that they needed more depth that they could rely on just as much as the starters... but it would be hard to find somebody to be a backup that is as good as somebody like Matt Light, just because they could be a starter nearly anywhere else instead of being a backup.

A player i'd like to see the Patriots make a fun at this off-season in free agency is Lance Briggs; call me crazy, but I think he would help them out a LOT in the LB department... Briggs, Thomas, Vrabel, Bruschi, and Colvin to choose from to be starters would be a nice selection in my opinion. Maybe they could get somebody like Ed Reed to rebuild their db's; after all, Belichick has been rather open about how much he likes that guy and how impressed he is with him. Who knows tho.. We'll see in the months to come.

Lance Briggs. Seem like his name comes up all the time on every teams wish list. He'd be a fine addition anywhere.

I suspect since the Pats are a clever organization, they will take the #2 pick in the draft, trade it for a low #1 and an extra 2nd and 3rd rounder or something like that.

Then the Pats will replenish whatever they need from the draft pool of top of the line prospects. The Pats are NOT Danny Snyder where they overpay for a high priced veteran. Like the Giants, they build through the draft.

Yep, that's the crazy thing.. a lot of people take paycuts to come to the Pats ... Moss took a HUGE paycut. Romo makes more than Brady. Crazy stuff, but most people on the team just want to win and don't mind making less money. (At least that's what Moss told Robert Kraft when he got to meet with him).

I hope they get someone or something really good with the 7th overall pick, they should be able to with that early of a pick. Too bad we don't have both of our 1st round picks, oh well tho.. they did it to themselves :bang:
