Well, my best freind took the plunge today and got a Z28. Its a 2000 Z28 auto, stock except for Magnaflow exhaust. Its a t-top car, SS clone... it looks bad ass, and it sounds good.

Of course we have all been waiting for this day for a long time, and now hopefully the throw down time between us will be soon. On the track of course, this isnt a street racing thread.

He is used to driving my freinds intake/tune/exhaust 05 GT auto and he said the Z28 feels on par or just a little stronger than my buddies 05...

So I figure if I get my ass handed to me it will be time to start modding again. Ive got all the bolt ons except for longtubes and u/d pullies. I dialed the car in pretty well with my Diablosport, so getting a "professional" dyno tune would be a waste at this point (as I tuned the car on a dyno myself w/ just the Diablosport).

Nitrous keeps popping into my mind. In all honesty I would not hesitate to run a 100 shot or smaller, but I have 2 cylinders that are a little lower than the rest on compression. I stay away from actually getting it because I do not have the money to blow an engine right now.

Id like to get a spare PI engine on the cheap and build it up. I would even mind keeping a non-forged bottom end and just porting the heads and installing some healthy cams, because I dont feel ill get past the point of breaking a stock bottom end (a healthy one anyway) with any type of forced induction.

Anyway, ill let you guys know how it goes if this happens soon.

And the cool part is, my bud is in a wheelchair. He had some hand pedals made for him so he can drive, and he is a pretty damn good driver IMO. Im stoked he got this car... he has big plans for it, which ultimatly will make me go the forced induction route, crank the boost, and blow my motor up... see my problem?!?! lol.

Just go ahead and slap a KB on there. Of course, if you buddy ever goes heads/cam/nitrous on that LS1, look out! Those motors have got to be one of the most responsive motors to mods that I have ever seen. There are some SICK LS1s around here.

Get some LT's, steeda U/D pullies, aluminum driveshaft, HPS hardballer intake, stage one cams and have a blast:nice: (thats what I'm going to do, actually I have most of that stuff I just need the intake LTs and cams). Then save for a few years and get the blower or just stay N/A. With the mods above you will be pushing around 340 crank hp and around 285 rwhp.

Yea, he will take you pretty easily especially with the times you have in your sig. At this point, nothing you can really do about it unless you out launch him and stay ahead for the rest of the race. Just get a blower and stay around 400rwhp and you'll be good for a long time to come in terms of engine longevity. Otherwise get used to seeing his tail lights, but since he is your bud it's all in good fun!

yea dude i'll tell ya i got burned by stock z when i had intake, tb, u/d pulleys, lt's, flowmasters, and 3.73's. Of course i had a shot a** trans. an effed up o2 sensors, but i'm not making excuses or anything

haha, yeah those damn issues always slow you down...:D

I wouldnt doubt it. That 13.9 run could have been alot better, I was having bad tuning issues (car was pinging, I was letting off, Diablosport shut itself down) but as it is that was my best time at the strip, so who knows.

My car hates launching, it does not know what weight transfer or traction are, lol.

That would be nice, but for all that $ id be at the price of a Ponydown turbo kit...:hail2: I do like the idea of a h/c/i 4.6 throwing down though.

i wish i could lay down the cash to get an s/c...i saved up 10g over the winter just for mods, but i kinda just want to do some small things and just pocket the rest lol

why am i so cheap? haha

Blow some cash on it man, it doesnt hurt to let go of a little money... trust me, been there done that.

you need to man up to a supercharger and dont look back, yea it sucks saving up for it but in the end believe me its worth it

Some kind of forced induction would put a damn big smile on my face.

i have my old bottom end out of my car still..........30K on it.

let me know if you're interested. i'l let it go CHEAP!!

I probaly couldnt do anything right now, but just out of curiousity how cheap is cheap?

He plans on it being a bolt on/cam car for the short term. After that heads, probaly rebuilding the bottom end once it tires out... im sure some spray will find its way in there at some point.

Id love a KB man, I guess I could go sell a kidney to start paying...:rlaugh:

Scary but I have my 96 up for sale now and I know of an 02 Z28 with 55K miles for 11.5K. It's calling me...

Ill tell you what man, they are real nice cars.

Before I bought my GT I was in a dryspell on finding NO Mustangs for sale that were worth anything. I found a GEM of a 97 Z28, 6 speed, 38k origional miles... still smelled new inside. BONE stock except for a Flowmaster muffler. They wanted $8600 for it.

It was an LT-1 car of course, but the 96+ didnt have as much trouble with the opti-spark and they are still a very stout motor, and take well to mods also.

Looking back it was actually alot better of a deal than my GT... but oh well, I really wanted a Mustang so I decided to not wait anymore and bought mine. Overall I am happy though.

i say go the spray route fast easy and cheap. its relatively safe if its set up right with a good tune. mine is still pulling like a champ even after that 200 shot lol. 100 shot of NX and some colder plugs and pull a few degrees of timing out and you will be fine. a 100 shot added around 6mph to my traps in the 1/8th. but i was also running a push button setup and you would die laughing if i showed you how i had the push button rigged up lol.

it was basically a wot switch that i turned into a push button cause i didnt want to have the wot switch. so i ran a wire along my center console and velcroed it to the side lol so in between shifts i would have to completely take my hand off the shifter and push the button then move it back and shift gears then hit the button again lol. now i have a hurst T handle shifter with a built in button.

Well I went for a ride in his car last night, and that thing feels very, very, tight.

It has the biggest thing our 4.6's are missing. GOBS of low end tourqe. That thing feels great off idle to redline. It doesnt "come on" halfway through the RPM range like a 4.6 does... it definatly presses you in the seat.

Its stock minus Magnaflow exhaust, K&N filter, and 3.42 gears.

I dont think a race will turn out too well in my favor, but I guess we will see, lol.

thats why im saying bottle feed that sucker. he will never know what hit him once sec he is pulling the next you are pulling past him like a freight train. and the best part of juice is he will never hear it no whine like a supercharger :D

I hear you man. I was pricing kits last night and was able to get a full kit, 50-150 wet shot w/ purge, bottle PSI guage, FPSS, and MSD window switch for $600-700 for everything depending on the brand I chose.

I allready have a Diablosport so that takes car of the tuning aspect.

Id really like to go ahead and get all of that and not tell him. Let him whoop my ass the first time and then spray like hell on the re-run...:rlaugh:

i wouldnt let him beat you too bad the first run spray it a few times and stay with him just like tap the button if you go manual activation like me and then on the rerun then just hold her down through all the gears and let it rip lol and just say i was taking it easy on teh first run and he was be scared then cause he only won by maybe a car length the first time then he gets owned by several the next lol

its all about the hustle lol:D

They defiantly have power through the RPM range. I drive my dad's 97 Vette and it hurts to know it took all of my mods to get what he has stock.

hahaha, that would be funny too... but man I dont think I could pass up the look on his face after he wins NA vs NA and then I go right back and cream him...

I know the feeling. I raced my other buddies LT1 car, it was an auto and it is a beast out of the hole, especially for a 99% bone stock car. It just launched and all that tourqe really scoots that thing. Up top I had the upper hand on him and would pull on him fairly.

But this LS1 has that same feeling as the LT1 and it just doesnt stop coming, lol... makes a 4.6 look pretty pathetic...:(
