3200 stall converter too much?

im thinking if i get one, i might as well get like a 3800, b.c i might get a bigger cam in the future, but i have alos been kicking around the idea of a g-force t5...i know i could be faster in the 1/4 w/ the 5 speed if i can shift right and keep a clutch in it...

PI said 9.5 stallion 32-3400. im thinking more of a 3800, i want this bad boy to leave like a bat out of hell! im just going to foot brake so the higher the better, my cam is only .512 lift and 218/224 duration, but a tech at work that has a 9 sec fairlane said he used a cam very similar to mine, just had more duration and he spun it to 7k in a sand drag 360 motor. he said that cam will spin to 6500 like i want to w/ no problem. so i figured what the heck, put 4.10's in it so i can keep up w/ the 5 speeds.

3800 is WAY to high...You're missing out on a good part of the power band!

So is my 6000 rpm 8" converter too much?

IMHO, for a track only motor you wil want a converter about 1200 stall under the shift point, now if you are more concerned with a street car make that number about 1500-1800. The tighter the converter the more it will lock up (but wheel speed helps), thus creating more MPH at the track. This is a very vague explanation though.

Lenny at www.ultimateconverter.com is the only person I trust with my converter. See my ETs to prove it.

lol thats funny.

i look at it this way, shifts will be between 6k and 6500, all depends on where the cam stops pulling, i get valve float at 6k right now so im tackling that next.

i need to launch as high as i can w/ the foot brake, max tq is in the 4k to 4500 range, i will now exactly when i do my next datalog :)

i want this thing to be streetable (i have a cooler, and lock up ) but i still want to fly down the track, w/ a 3600-3800 i can foot brake 3k to 3300, somewhere in there.
