Man, I wish I had A/C

not unless it's on right?

Correct. When it's off it robs maybe 0.025HP that it takes to spin the pulley. It freewheels easily when the clutch is not engaged.

Other that that, it's just 30 pounds of dead weight really.

In a daily driver..i NEED A/C. I can't stand the heat..especially with black leather seats. Plus when you take a girl out on a date...they kinda don't like to sweat.

I almost can't drive in-town with the A/C running in Stinky. That poor little 2.8L V-6 has a hard enough time using all 125 horses to pull its own weight along, as it is, and turning on the A/C in city traffic just bogs it down horribly. I try to only use it on the highway ... and sometimes not even that, as I must be part dog - I like to stick my head out the window while I'm going down the road. :D

Even in V-8 cars I've had in the past with working A/C, I usually only run it on the highway - not so much because it cuts into horsepower, but mostly just for the sake of saving gas. (The drag of A/C isn't as bad on the highway as opposed to in stop-and-go traffic.)

The drag associated with running down the highway with all your windows open hurts gas mileage as much as running with the A/C on, so it's really a no brainer for me.

A/C doesn't rob any power when it's not on and for that matter, kicks off under heavy throttle for effortless passing.
