Here we go again....

There is a guy on my local forum that wants to trade his 93 fox body GT for a 94 & up GT. I love my 95, but as some of you know from my previous potential trades, I have always wanted a clean Fox body & I have already had 3 SN95's. I personally like the Fox LX's more, but this car is unmolested & very clean. The down side is, its an auto, but 5 speed swaps are easy in fox bodys. Do you think Im crazy for considering this trade??? Here is the car in question....

Here is the guys rundown on the Fox body...

clean title and all reciets avail. 127k miles with a rebuilt AOD trans with shift kit. mostly stock with a few bolt-on's. 3g 175 amp alt, bbk intake, bbk pullies, bbk h-pipe with spintech pro mufflers. new kyb gr-2's and fresh carpet installed 2 weeks ago. python alarm and paint is less then 6 months old. also has svo/93 cobra taillights. i still have stock parts for smog.

My car has 87k original miles & is a 5 speed. It has black leather interior in good shape, clean paint & body, mostly stock, with a few mods...Recently replaced clutch with a king cobra, brand new bilstein HD's, H&R supersports, MM c/c plates, new cap/rotor/plugs/wires, mac off road H pipe, flows, alarm, eclipse deck with JL audio 10", etc...No problems at all other than it needs a new ac compressor...The car is unmolested & was bone stock when I bought it last year. If we do decide to trade, i wouldnt be throwing in the wheels & tires, but i will put on some stock Mustang 17's most likely...Here are pics of my car for comparison...

I know the pro's & con's about SN95's versus Fox's (older vs. newer, 5 lug vs. 4 lug, rear disk vs. rear drum etc.), but I still would like opinions....

Let me know what you guys think....

as much as i love fox bodies...and white cars over yellow (sorry) yours is a pristine example of that body style. it has all the features that i love most in the 94-98 body style: horizontal tail lights (i guess im one of the few that prefer it) the dark shaded area under the "mustang" print on the rear bumper, functional side scoops, 5.0 engine, true black interior with the perforated leather in the door panel. not no mention your SICK wheels and i dont even like black wheels....

i would keep yours for sure. i think the 94-95s are the best 5.0's available.

thats a tough one. I think it comes down to what your plans are for your current car and what you plans would be for the fox. plus you sitll have you mach. I dont think I would trade. his car LOOKS clean but you could be getting a lemmon. I would stick with what you got too many unkowns and a trade like that puts up a few red flags.

I would stick with what you got and buy an LX like you want. Buy something that needs a little work or a 4cyl -5.0 swap. there are plenty of granny driven 4-cyl that are clean out there.

Thanks for the honesty...Your dislike for yellow doesnt offend me. Its a love it, or hate it color, & I love yellow. Being that I have owned two 4.6 SN's, I used to hate the horizontal lights until i got my 95. Now I actually prefer them & wouldnt switch them out for the 96-98 tails. The black rear valance is 1 of my favorites too & the perforated door panels are cool too.

BUT, at the same time, I have had quite a few SN95's, & a fox would be a nice change & white is my favorite color on a fox....I prefer LX's & Im not a fan of auto's, so thats my only turn off.

My plans for my 95 are HCI, a saleen S281 spoiler (which i already have in my garage), Cobra front brakes (which i have sitting in my garage), Cobra front bumper, & 95 r hood. That is pretty much it.

For the Fox I would do the following in this order...

-5 speed swap
-5 lug swap
-17X6.5 & 17X10 Pony R wheels
-93 cobra rear bumper
-93 cobra rear spoiler
-93 cobra grille insert
-HCI swap

As much as I would want to get some modern looking wheels on a fox, I love the 17" Pony replicas & usually i hate chrome, but i would do chrome if i bought these...They are available in 4 or 5 lug, but there is no way i would stay 4 lug...

These are Pony R's in a 17x6.5 & 17X10's with 215/50/17 in front & 315/35/17 in back for the big & little look....:hail2:

Yeah, an LX coupe is my 1st choice, then LX hatch, with GT's being my least favorite, but I still like em', besides the rear bumper which i would swap for a 93 Cobra piece...Actually, if i could have any fox, it would be an 86 T top coupe or GT, but those are hard to find & require alot to make fast since they aren't mass air & I think the stock pistons wont allow for Head & cam swaps....At this point I dont need anything that would be a major project so a 4 banger LX is out of the question, although u can find some extremly clean coupes for $1000 or less....

coming from a fox I know what you mean. I love the look of a clean fox. Mine was by no means clean but you cant beat the lines of an lx. Mine had a sportline kit on it and hugged the ground. I want another but I cant seem to break my hold of my new edge. the wife says I can get another but who knows when that will be.

I think you'll end up missing your sn overall. especially with what you have planned for it. just wrench on it and be happy.

fyi-If I had known they made the ponies in 17 and 5 lug I would have gone with them instead of the bullitts. sweet sexyness.

nothing like a clean fox, at all. I have not read any of the other replies, but we dont, at least myself, get into mustangs for an investment purpose.

The Blue Book value of the car mean little to me. The question is, what's the car worth to you? If thats what you are set on, by all means, get it. In the end, its what makes you happy.

Clean, unmolested fox's are very hard to come by, but then again, so is an sn95 5oh. If you really want it, get it.

I'm sure you're very excited to get a new project, as you try to trade your yellow car like every week lol but I think you should wait till you find the perfect Fox. Because your SN95 is a perfect example of that particular model. If you want a 5-speed, wait for a 5-speed. If you want an LX, wait for it.

Wait for the perfect one and then trade up.

I love the look of that fox. It looks amazing and clean foxes are hard and harder to find these days. I've driven 90k miles in a fox and 50k miles in a SN95, and I have to say the SN-95 is sooo much nicer. All around, the SN95 is a HUGE improvement.

I wouldn't do a streight trade. You'd be trading for a car that is 2 years older and has 40k more miles. Make the trade even by requesting the KBB difference in cash and enjoy the car you want! If he won't make the trade even by throwing in some cash to make up the KBB difference, then forget it.

If you don't want it let me know where to find that guy. i always wanted a white 5.0 hatchbatck. That one looks to be in mint condition. I prefer the Fox body over the sn95s (1994-1998), but then again I'm older and most young people here with mustangs don't like Fox's because they didn't grow up with those cars. Its just a matter of taste. If its something you have wanted for a while then do it. I mean if every time you see a Fox mustang you think to your self "I want one" then thats a sign :) .. However I would get the one you like (LX, 5 Speed etc.) and you won't regret it later. I'm also guessing you have driven 5.0s before, if not test drive one first to make sure your comfortable with them.

Dont know what happened to my post

Epik, I love your GT dont sell it :( I hate having to sell my Cobra and get a fox. I like Foxes but your yeller GT would be my pick over a that Fox, or almost any of the ones ive been looking at :nice:

Oh joy, I have a new CT :nonono:

SN 95 + Hellion Turbo + piggy back and away you go.

Being both a 93 and 04 owner, the 04 definitely rides better. The coupe feels light on it's feet compared to the 04.

Keep your SN

Thanks for the insight everyone...I am still at this point leaning towards keeping my SN. Im not real big on the GT's, unless done right, & my car is already a 5 speed & in great shape. If it were an LX 5 speed in either a coupe or a hatch, I wouldnt even question the trade, but I dont have the time or money to do a complete 5 speed swap, 5 lug swap, Cobra rear bumper, & new wheels at this time. I would have to do all of the above to be happy with the car. Plus my car has better mods at this point, so i would be shooting myself in the foot if I did the trade IMO....Thanks again guys
